Title: Can Live Coal discard Confusion of Mind even without negate?

Hi again,

can I discard opponent'S Confusion of Mind when I play Live Coal in territory? I know that I do not negate CoM - but the 2nd part just discards it and should hence work?
And after CoM is discarded is its ability still active then?

Or did I get sth. wrong?

Yes you can discard CoM with Live Coal, and the effect of CoM will only persist for the duration of the phase in which it was removed from play.
