Burial only bury's one half of the lost souls card, correct?
I know it is legal to give someone half of it and then bury the other half so they can't get it. It then goes to your discard pile.
What if I bury half of it though when neither half has been rescued? Can I later give half of it and then discard it?
-
No, at the time of the burial both halves are gone, therefore not available for later rescue. Actually thats how you can bury half of the rescue, because both the "saved" and the unsaved are discarded.
-
Okay, I got it. It actually discards a complete lost soul CARD.
Why doesn't Son of God work that way, considering the wording is so similar? It only rescues half, doesn't it?
-
It's because of the difference between 'discard' and 'rescue'. A discarded card is only discarded by going to the discard pile. You can't discard half of a card, because if the card hasn't reached the discard pile, it hasn't been discarded.
However, rescuing is different. To rescue a LS in almost all cases is to place it in a Land of Redemption, with the one exception of this card, which specifically states that it must be rescued twice.
So Burial discards the whole card, whether or not a rescue has already been made on half of it. Son of God rescues half of the card, because it only rescues once on a card that must be rescued twice.
Make sense?

Yes, thank you. I've always played it that way, I've just never understood WHY. Thanks!
