Title: Battle Resolution timing?
Post by: kariusvega on June 04, 2016, 03:39:32 PM
opponent attacks, i do not block and only play christian matyr on their lone hero in battle and they have no other options to add to battle or instead the discard

is it instantly battle resolution when matyr is played and the lone hero is discarded?

I guess if all the stuff from the first clause is true then yes.

No.  Both players still have the opportunity to play dominants or activate any other effects that are allowed during the Battle Phase.  Only when both players have passed this capability does it move to Battle Resolution.

In a different situation involving battle resolution, if I make a rescue attempt with some heroes not realizing that I need site access, can my opponent decline to block while I don't have access thus not giving me the opportunity to add an access site? I've had this come up before where people try to just say "I don't accept" really quick and then say that I can't add an access site because they've already declined. :P

Same thing if the only lost soul I can rescue is put in a site during battle. Can they just site the LS quick then discard they're EC by the numbers and claim the battle is over?

Its not over until both involved players agree that it is over. So if your opponent says that they do not accept, you are allowed to add a site, at which point they can decide to accept or not again.

that is really good to know..

with other phases is it the same way? for example.. if i do something in one phase, for example draw phase, do i decide when it is the next? or does it move straight to upkeep/prep etc

You cannot shift between phases without giving your opponent a chance to respond within that phase. For example, you cannot activate Hidden Treasures then push a Hero immediately into battle to begin the battle phase wihout allowing your opponent to use DoN or one of the new anti-Artifact placed Enhancements. There isn't necessarily a formal process for ensuring that, but it is always wise to pause briefly between phase changes to allow for those types of reactions.
