Title: Baptism of Jesus (Di)
Post by: The_ARk on September 03, 2010, 03:57:31 PM
I have a game scenario where the Di Baptism of Jesus was played. I am hoping you can confirm my ideas about this new card.

ok. Player 1 attempts a rescue with John The Baptist (di)
Player two blocks with Saph who bands The Philistine Garrison holding Philistine Chariot and Horses (TP)

Philistine Chariot and Horses (TP)
Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Black • Ability: 2 / 2 • Class: Weapon • Special Ability: Interrupt the battle and draw two cards. If used by a Philistine, may play an Enhancement.

with the two cards he draws he plays Wrath of Satan. John the Baptist now has initiative because he is being discarded.

Here is where my question begins. Can John the Baptist play Baptism of Jesus (Di) to save himself?

Baptism of Jesus (Di)
Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Green • Ability: 1 / 3 • Class: None • Special Ability: Negate special abilities on Evil Characters and weapons. If used by a N.T. prophet, discard an evil card. Cannot be prevented. • Identifiers: None • Verse: Matthew 3:16 • Availability: Disciples booster packs ()

Would 1. The band between Saph and Garrison be negated returning the Garrison and his weapon to the territory, 2. PCaH would also be negated reguardless so the Battle was not interrupted and the Wrath of Satan was never drawn 3. JtB is a N.T. Prophet so he can discard Saph.

Is that correct?

Negating the ability that drew a card that has already been played cannot unplay the card, if that's what you are asking. Negating banding also does not unplay or negate a card, so you are unable to even play Baptism of Jesus in this scenario, unless you interrupt the battle first.

However, Behold the Lamb would be absolutely fabulous here.

i agree negating banding wouldn't undo the play but if the black character is no longer there for it to resolve on then what?

You can't play anything untill you interrupt the battle, because until you interrupt, you're not really in the battle anymore.  WoS has discarded you.

If you interrupt the battle and THEN negate the banding, that would work. However, when you get the "special initiative" to negate, you are not allowed to do stuff that would indirectly interrupt the enhancement, only directly (via ItB, Negate Last, etc.).

Good this is what I was getting at.
