Title: Assyrian Archer

If I use Assyrian Archer's special ability, does it survive if Assyrian camp is in play?  When the battle is "over" are not all characters already back in my territory?  Therefore it should be protected from its own discard, right?

Assyrian Archer

Type: Evil Char. • Brigade: Pale Green • Ability: 3 / 5 • Class: Warrior • Special Ability: You may discard a Hero in a territory. If you do, discard this Evil Character after battle. It depends on whether "after battle" comes before or after the characters go back to their territories.

That's basically what I am trying to determine, because I have been told in the past that, playing Great Image and Isaac Decieved results in all my opponents hero's being discarded, so I was wondering if this was similar.

Well that's a different scenario, because Isaac Deceived is an instant SA that casues the hero to go back earlier than he would by game rule.

but it is similar, lets reword it, what if the battle ends in stalemate after I play great image( w/o Isaac Decieved)?  Does the hero that failed to win but did not die get discarded by great image?

Archer would die.  Battle resolution does not take place in territory, it takes place in battle.  If archer is discarded, then he never goes back to territory, where the protection is.

Nope.  The lone hero survives.

but I thought that when the battle ended all characters are returned to territory, then after battle stuff happens?

Nope.  It goes:

Battle
Battle Resolution
Any survivors return to territory.

Image and Archer's kamakazi's ability take effect in the Battle Resolution phase.

Abilities that happen "after battle" happen during battle resolution.
