hey are Egyptian Wise Men magicians?
-
It would be awesome if they were, but I think the answer is no, for the same reason that Philistine Priests are not magicians. The verse differentiates in a way between magicians and wisemen(/priests): "the Magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof," which is taken to mean (at least by Redemption players) that the magicians and the wisemen are different people.
The end.
-
The answer is no, because they're Heroes. Although I don't think we ever got a definitive answer on whether they become Magicians if Converted.

He said Egyptian Wise Men, which are evil.
-
That's racist.
-
I'm a troll, so that's okay.

I always thought Egyptian wise men were magicians... This is the 1/3 EC right?

correct he also bands to any Egyptian

Wait a minute....
The Magi are listed in the REG Glossary as Magicians (which I did not know). I find this peculiar if The Magi were added to the list, but Egyptian Wise Men were not, since The Magi's identifier says, "Eastern Wise Men."
-
Eastern not Egyptian
ha! ;D

a "Wise Man" could just be a old dude with lots of wisdom or knowledge or whatever. these "wisemen" just happen to magicians(or these magicians happen to be Wisemen) as well as wise men. doesnt mean all wisemen are magicians or Vice Versa
-
I'm not talking about theoretical definitions, I am talking about Redemption official definitions. If "Wise Men" are treated as Magicians for one card, then the same must be true for all Wise Men. Otherwise we will have inconsistencies that lead to poor rulings.
-
Egyptian Wise Men were a distinctly different group from Egyptian Magicians, therefore they are not considered magicians.
Also, to clear up the identifier on The Magi, they were created before Redemption had a need to define what we consider a magician. After TeP was released it was decided that only an Evil Character can be defined as a magician, therefore The Magi are not actually magicians, even though the identifier says they are. :P
-
Well that would explain why I did not know The Magi were magicians. :P
Since the card's actual identifier does not say magician, is this just going to be removed from the REG? That is the only place the discrepancy exists.

Wise men practice magic. I think it is a proverb or something...

+1

I would assume that the new REG will clear up any discrepancies in this area :)
