Title: ANB Question
Post by: Rawrlolsauce! on August 17, 2010, 09:16:28 PM
What does "If making a rescue attempt" mean? Someone please offer me an alternate wording so I understand it.

Yes, this is for a combo. I won't stop until I can get the PTB to errata ANB instead of just implementing a n00b immunity rule.

It's mostly a clarification. It means you can not play it in a side battle or in a battle challenge (due to broken combos).

'mostly'. I want a positive, complete answer.

Would you say it means "If the character which this enhancement is played on is currently making a rescue attempt, you may............"

I would say that is a correct interpretation of it.

Fantastic. If anyone else agrees/disagrees don't hesitate to post.

One final question: Can you protect from protection?

Example: I RA with hero. Hero's SA is, "Protect this hero from opponent's evil special abilities". Opponent blocks with a card that says "protect opponent's hero from all discard abilities". Can I then CM my own hero?

I agree with alex.

You can protect from protect.
I.E. Thaddius + 4 Disciples in play vs. Philetus, Philetus can't protect the souls.

After thinking about it awhile after our game earlier, Rawr, I believe you can protect from protection, because protect abilities target cards like anything else. A protected card cannot be targeted by a card that it is protected from. So in your example, Rawr, you could CM your own hero.

When ANB says if making a rescue attempt, it means if ANB is played on a character in a rescue attempt. The Ambush the City ANB combo was nullified a long time ago.

Also, anytime I see ANB question as the topic of a thread, I shudder a little bit. I saw that you started it, and I shuddered a bit more.

Things are lookin' good ;).

Protection vs protection didn't even matter in our game. I got confused, I would be protecting my hero from your cards and you would be protecting your souls from rescue (not protecting me from rescuing your souls, which I thought for some reason).
