Title: Abom Civ Question
Post by: browarod on January 28, 2010, 04:38:37 PM
Why does Abom require a Greek? Does something in the Bible support that, or was it given that simply to give Greeks something to add to their strategy?

I don't know my history as well as I'd like to, but if you read Daniel 11, it's basically a prophetic overview of transition from Persian to Greek to Roman rule. I found this (http://www.herealittletherealittle.net/index.cfm?page_name=Daniel11) article as an explanation of all of the events. The king who "set up the abomination of desolation" was the Greco-Syrian ruler that all Abom players know and love, Antiochus IV Epiphanes.

The abomination was the sacrifice of a pig on the altar of the temple. This sacrifice was performed by a Greek, and thus is how the identifier was added.
