Title: Abiathar Vs CM
Post by: The Warrior on May 20, 2010, 08:02:56 PM
my & my brother were playing had a disagreement over Protect abilities.
My brother was trying to CM my Abiathar but it i say it protects against it he says Dominants Trump everything unless it specifically states such (Lampstand Etc.) I disagree based of the ruling of Judas Iscy which does not specifically target dominants.

Abiathar is protected from ALL discard abilities. Christian Martyr has a discard ability, so therefore Abiathar is protected from CM.

Protect > CBN.
CBN > Negate.
Negate > Protect.

*EDIT*

One addition to this: Abiathar must be in battle to be protected from CM.

*Note* As long as he is in battle.  To my knowledge, Judas Iscariot is the only character with the protect ability that remains active while in play... right?

I'm not 100% certian, but yes, I think judas may be the only character with a permanent protect ability like that.

Abel has a similar ability too unless I read it wrong:

You may discard a good card from hand to protect Abel from capture and conversion for remainder of game. Cannot be negated

While In Play just turns into For Remainder of Game.

Ah, yeah, I forgot about Abel.  I have him somewhere and I'm pretty sure your statement is accurate.

Incorrect-Set aside is unprotected

... what?

Abel is protected in set aside as well if I'm not mistaken.

Has he left the game? Nope. Then his protection sticks.
