Is a Toss ability also considered a decrease ability?
-
It sounds like it ends up being a Decrease, yeah.. but I definitely don't know better than you!
-
I don't believe it is counted as a decrease ability, more of it's own category. kinda like how a decrease can discard a character, but it isn't a discard. A toss can decrease a character, but isn't a decrease ability.
-
A Toss ability targets enhancements, so it is not a decrease ability:
How to Play
A toss ability allows a player to play an enhancement in a different way than usual; instead of activating the numbers or special abilities of the enhancement, the enhancement is discarded to decrease an opposing character by X/X (where X is the strength of the discarded enhancement), regardless of protection or immunity.
A toss ability targets the enhancements that would be played.
A toss ability is ongoing.
Even if Toss was a decrease ability, it would probably not matter, since Toss is regardless of protection/immunity. Do you have a specific scenario that is affected by whether Toss is a decrease ability or not?
-
Can a toss ability be negated or prevented?

It sounds like cards like Colosseum target enhancement by tossing cards in order to decrease the opposing character.
Maybe I'm reading this wrong but that's what it sounds like to me.
When that happens if it decreases the opposing character enough then the opposing character is discarded regardless of immunity or protection.
Because a toss is ongoing
So yes I believe that a toss is a decrease ability in some sort of way

I mean, it's semantics. The REG says it only targets enhancements, and you can't decrease enhancements.
But yes, if Coliseum tosses an enhancement and it causes Special Initiative by removing the last character from battle on one side of the battle, then that player can play a card that interrupts or negates Coliseum.
-
So it is a decreased ability in a roundabout way. If a card says you can toss this card in order to decrease your opponent X/X then the card is targeting itself the enhancement but it's still decreases your opponent's character. Regardless of immunity or protection.

Yeah I had in mind the regardless of protection/immunity clause, but I was thinking more of a card/ability that targets a card that has a decrease ability.
