Title: 2 Questions
Post by: Dario Dante on July 07, 2014, 07:33:28 PM
I have returned to the forum!!! Don't worry I have still been playing redemption (lol). Anyways I have a couple of questions to ask, 2 for now.

(#1) Can CBN search cards be affected by Hezekiah's Signet Ring?

(#2) Can CBN Banding cards be affected by Household Idols?

Thanks for your help,

-DARiO-

Yes to both

Good to see you back!

To elaborate, both of the mentioned cards are restrict abilities, not negates. It doesn't stop the card directly, it blocks all of those abilities.

To the first one, Hezekiah's Signet Ring is a Restrict, so a CBN search will still be stopped by it.

For the second one, unless something has changed House Hold Idols is not a restrict, but a combination of Ignore and Prevent. So it is a little more complicated. A CBN banding ENHANCEMENT will work if HHI is up, however HEROES with banding abilities cannot enter battle, due to being ignored (don't ask for the specifics of how they are being ignored with no characters ignoring them, it's a little confusing, but that's how it works).

Wow. Are you sure about that?

ChristianSoldier is correct on both counts.

I agree with the ruling on HSR, since the card specifically targets the opponent, not the opponent's cards.

Quote
Heroes may not band. Good banding cards have no effect.

Neither one of these sentences comes even close to sounding like an ignore, and trying to explain how HHI works to people unfamiliar with the nuances of the game is a pain. Both abilities sound a lot more like prevents than they do anything else. "Good banding cards have no effect" doesn't sound like the battle is then ignoring them, it sounds like those cards would just be negated. To clarify, I agree that the status quo is what has been mentioned above. I think it should changed.

household idols kinda sounds like immunity to me. That's just my opinion.

Who is immune from what?

Have no effect? I dunno! They can't do anything just like a lone hero can't do anything to ( Philistine Garrison,Prince of this World, Emporer Nero) until they negate the immunity. I feel like I'm speaking gibberish and this has no correlation at all. Hahahaha

"Have/has no effect" is old wording for "ignore" which is why HHI ignores banding Heroes (and technically enhancements, but ignoring an enhancement doesn't accomplish anything). I agree that it isn't the most intuitive thing, but it's a status quo that encompasses an entire subset of older cards and has been around for a very long time (at least as long as I've been playing the game) so I think it would need a fairly big push to be changed.

Chris - What would you have the status quo of "have/has no effect" change to if you don't like that it currently means ignore? I'm just curious.
