Title: 2 Bans Effective December 1, 2019

Beginning December 1, 2019 Samuel (RoA XXIII) will be banned in all constructed formats.

Beginning December 1, 2019 Mourn and Weep (PoC) will be banned in all constructed formats. A replacement card will be offered via an exchange program. Details will be given when that's available.

In limited formats these banned cards (and the banned "Liner" Lost souls) can be played if you open them in a pack but they are to be treated as meek (no special ability).

Updates to the REG are forthcoming in early 2020. The most notable update is that cascade negate is being eliminated.

So it is literal... No more Sam or Mourn and Weep. I have enjoyed some good fun with Sam, but have never used Mourn and Weep. Doing away with Cascade Negates has been a long time coming. I am glad to see the nudges to keep Redemption headed in the right direction. And yes these are nudges compared to what could have been done to shove the meta a different way. Great explanation on LoR. Thanks for taking the time to share.

I’m very happy to hear about these bans/rule changes!  I’m surprised that AUTO wasn’t a part of the ban, though, as I know it was recommended on the forum. I’m curious to know what the final reason was to keep AUTO in the pool if it happened to be discussed by the elder to ban him.

I approve of the changes, been a long time coming. 

For mourn and weep, will the new card just be a less powerful version like the mayhem exchange program or will we just get a completely new card to replace it?

I am glad to see that Throne decks have finally been shown down even by a little bit with this. While it is unfortunate to see him go, banning Samuel should let a good chunk of decks be more competitive!

AUTO is at the top of the list of cards considered but without Samuel he feels much more like an over powered card in a Judges deck as opposed to a card that will be splashed into most competitive decks. We will keep our eye on AUTO and if we believe he's warping the meta something will be done.

Mourn and Weep is not receiving an errata the way Mayhem did. Nothing more is certain about the replacement card at this time.

@Gabe Yeah that makes sense. Definitely keeps him more restricted to Judges decks. Thanks, and thanks for listening to the community about these issues. These changes will definitely be healthier for the game. 👍

I really appreciate the level of care that is being put into making the game better. 

Very nice to see cascade negate going the way of the Dodo.  It will be so much more simple.

so is there going to me a replacement for a new samuel? because i don't wanna use the territor class one for edict  ;D ;D

There will not be a replacement for Samuel because the Cloud version already exists.

No...also, Edict is CBN on any version of Samuel...not just the one from the tins.

Great! Sam's been a good 3 years coming but M&W is a pleasant surprise. It was for sure something I was never behind (it's beyond me how it got out of testing), but I was never going to bring it up for any serious ban discussion since it just released. It was never near the top of my list*, but I'm glad it's gone.

I mean, I know the elders have a lot of success wrapped up in Haman's Plots, but c'mon. Out of the several suspect entries on my list, of all the pre-rotation cards not named FA(w) or Uzzah, why suffer another year? C'mon. ;)

Of all the times I've played Edict, I bet 97% of the time it was on a bulletproof Gideon and 3% of the time it was on Sam or someone else.

Unless the Gideon he’s playing it on is from J deck.
