Hey All,
I've got a cousin who's a game programmer and he said he would be willing to at least take a look at the RTS program and see about updating it. First However, He needs to see what design ideas the community has. This Topic will serve as a place where you guys can tell him, through me, what yuo want. He told me the best way would be to draw what the program screens would look like. Post stuff here, and I'll relay them to him.

I'll list a few things I would love to see in a new RTS.
1) Mac Support. I don't use macs, but I know a lot of other people do.
2) Discard / Reveal X cards bottom card of the deck.
3) The ability to see cards that have been removed from the game. Removing the wrong card by accident is incredibly annoying right now.
4) Reveal X cards from the top of the deck.
5) If at all possible, remove the need for Hamachi to connect to players.
I'll add more when I think of them.

here we go again.

Here we go again?
Wouldn't removing Hamatchi require a server that both players could connect to? If so, that would require someone willing to host a server.
-
We have had several people (including myself) look in to updating RTS in the past, since no one has the source code for the original and its in a language that no one teaches anymore even if you did we have all effectively given up on the project over time.
-
Well that's good to know.
Why not write a new program. I think that's what is needed right now. The program at this point is so old its almost not worth keeping, from what my uninformed mind sees.
-
Because that would take far more time that someone can reasonably take on for free and, for the most part, the redemption community has shown an unwillingness to pay for it as well as the problem of licensing
-
Also good to know.
BTW, until I hear back from my cousin, don't stop telling me what you want, I'll just see what he says about everything I just learned. Thanks lp670sv

As a note of interest, Mike Wolfe (the guy who created the Visualizer) has been kinda working on a completely new way to play Redemption online called Redemption Live for the last several years. I don't know what the status is of that project, but figured you might at least want to know.
As for features, I wish the "end turn" button at the top was NOT so close to the "draw" button. I also hope that there will still be some sort of hidden Easter egg like the current program has :)

And this easter egg is... :o

If you click just below the lp under the Help menu you get a pop up window that says:
Easter Egg ^_~
Congratulations on your super victory!

2) Discard / Reveal X cards bottom card of the deck.
This is the biggest thing IMHO of Lambo's list. When I play with demon defenses, I do my best to just look at the bottom card when I use Wandering Spirit's or Gates of Hell's ability. But you also have to remember to not shuffle when you return your deck... A lot of things can go wrong, and you can't "unsee" cards in your deck.

You actually can just shuffle if using GoH because after you stop discarding. The bottom card in that situation is unknown technically.

Add a spectate mode.

Add a spectate mode.
This.

Oh, I almost forgot a big feature people want:
Multiplayer. I don't know how hard this would be to code, but it would be awesome.

Add a spectate mode.

A look at function for Zeresh and Susanna would be nice. And kinda Strength Revealed.
