Title: Redemption Table Simulator 2 ---The OFFICIAL Discussion
Post by: thestrongangel on January 23, 2009, 09:22:46 PM
When will RTS2 be released? Will it be compatible with Mac? Ubuntu? Windows 7?

GamerX, we need you!

I really hope it is built on Adobe AIR.  Then, it is instantly compatible with Mac, Windows, Linux....

I heard somewhere that it's built with Microsoft Silverlight and that is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux.

It will be compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux thanks to Microsoft Silverlight (that is ...assuming it's built with Silverlight!).

Mike

How do you know?  ;)

I would like to see a multi-player function in the next RTS, I don't know how hard that would be to add though.

I know the guy who is working on it and I heard that multi-player is supposed to be in there.

I think I heard about multi-player being in there, too. That would be really cool.

oh yeah. A while back, when talking with the fella who was working on this, he hinted at numerous bells and whistles that would bring the dawn of a new era in the Redemption Table Simulator. I and many others anxiously await the unveiling of the new RTS. By the way, would (edited by R.O.S.E.S) be giving us a time line on the release any time soon?

Godspeed,
Mike

I used to have an epic little acronym for ROSES, but it, too, was lost in the Great Purge. >:(

Yikes!  That would be cool... maybe our online T2 MP games would finish in less than 3-4 hours!

My biggest question for those of you who know the guy working on this project is:

Will the "new" RTS be free like the "old" RTS?

If GamerX is working on it, it will be free.

It's not GamerX working on it... which you might've guessed considering the people that are 'in the know'...

I am sure the maker of the new RTS would welcome donations if it's not made for retail.  :)

Type NW is gonna be all it was designed to be when the new multi-player RTS is up and in action.   :o

I think the new version will be distributed through Cactus and will cost money. However, I don't think that's a bad thing. GamerX hasn't even been involved with RTS for a long time. The new expansions have been created by third party members donating their time. I think that in order to keep programmers involved in RTS we should reimburse them for their time.

Type NW was originally designed for partner/team play, essentially,  2 against 2. You and your partner can build decks that compliment eachother or mirror eachother or whatever you think will work. You can help your partner with enhs. during battle or your partner can help you with enhs. during battle. Type NW decks are all 70 cards and no Dominants. Experience credits are used and games are 1 hour long. All other T1 deckbuilding rules apply. RA as many LSs as you can from your opponents. Team with most Redeemed Souls wins. It is quite a load of fun. The current RTS only allows 1 on 1 play, but RTS2 will allow Type NW to played the way is was originally designed to be played and that is Partner/Team play, which is alot more fun and intense in my opinion. Not that 1 on 1 play isn't fun mind you. In the second, live, Type NW Team game at the District in Medford a couple months back, a Pale Green paralysis/stall type defense and FbtN offense seemed to dominate.  :o

Godspeed,
Mike

I don't know that it dominated so much as it made teenage boys cry.   :D

Not out yet, as far as I know.  And if my opinion matters at all here, RTS2 should be open source.

It's not out yet, I've been redployed on a project putting solar panels on my house. So Redemption Live! has had to take a short break. I'm nearing the end of the solar panel project now, so I hoe to be getting back to it sometime soon.

The first beta has been around since Nats 09, but a more recent closed beta is currently being tested.

...if money became an issue (and RTS2 is as awesome as it sounds) Cactus could host official tournaments, charge a fee, and give a portion to whoever put the program together.

Fundraiser tournaments, while fun, don't make as much money as one might think.
Title: Re: Redemption Table Simulator 2 ---The OFFICIAL Discussion

I'm not saying "fundraiser" tournaments... Like legit tournies.. just played from the comfort of your own home :)

continue to expand the online playing community. Hopping on the computer is way easier than traveling anywhere.. like from 10 to 100 (or more) miles for a local/regional tournament (especially if you don't drive, or have family/work obligations). Expand the NRS points and prizes awarded for winning online tournaments, expand the events offered (T1 2P, T2 2P, TI multiplayer, T2 multiplayer etc.) The closest playgroup for me is about an 1 and a half away... I would be much more likely to attend and pay for a tournament if I could just play from my living room..

Now, I know a lot of people complain this defeats the reason for Redemption: good fellowship... So  online tournaments shouldn't replace the real deal, it should just be considered as good alternative for some of the smaller tournaments.

And this way [if money did become an issue for the development and upkeep of RTS 2] ...make guys like me pay for the convenience  ;D ...instead of paying to use the program, or paying for cards that you might already own.

It's funny that you bring this up, as there is a plan in the works to actually do something like this soon.  Of course the plan at this point is for the tournament to be free, but the idea is to be an alternative for players who are unable to travel long distances for a certain tournament.  Nothing definite yet, but keep an ear out :)

That's exciting! I think I might enjoy online play more than the real thing... I know this is a *collectible* card game.. But RTS has leveled the playing field.. Where the player who doesn't have all the resources to obtain big name cards isn't left out! The player with the best game play/strategy/draw wins!

but keep an ear out :)

I'll be keeping two ears out!  ;D

i would love to participate in the making/helping out/testing/whatever else needs to be done of RTS2 or Redemption Live! or whatever other name it may have, for I am rather skilled with code. What language will it be in?

And if my opinion matters at all here, RTS2 should be open source.
+1 +1 +1 +1 +1

I would work very hard for no money if I got to help out!!
and that open source thing isn't just a bad idea...  8)
