Title: Older RTS updates, see RTS Guide for these and more.
Post by: mjwolfe on August 31, 2006, 11:35:19 PM
Thanks to Gabe Isbell we now have the Faith of our Fathers combined with my Priests and 10th Anniversary expansion as an update to the RTS card list. It also has new scans for all of the FOOF cards. They should be better looking than previous scans!

It's now been repackaged as an update to the base RTS cards and NOT AS AN RTS EXPANSION.

This means that if you've used my previous Priests and 10th Anniversary expansion set, you'll need to update all of your decks that used the expansion. To do this, run the installation (link below) then go into RTS. Edit each of your decks and remove any card whose name is in bold and replace it with the exact same card from the master card list that doesn't have the card name in bold letters. Once all of your decks are updated. Simply remove the old Priests and 10th Anniversary expansion. You won't need it anymore!

Thanks so much for taking the time to do this and then sharing it with everybody, it's really cool.

Also, any chance you could do the same for the G/H Starters? A CEC expansion file for them already exists, but I don't think anyone's scan the pics. In addition, if you don't have a complete G/H starter set yet, I'd be happy to send you a brand-new, unopened one free of charge.

You're welcome!

I can scan the pictures for the G&H Starters as well. I'll see if I can do it this weekend. I'll let you all know when it's available.

I have the CEC file and the cards, so I'll add the scans.

Hey, would it be better to add them along with the Priests in the same file so that people only have to add one file? Or would you rather have them as two separate CEC expansion files? Or should I make it available both ways?

Sweet, Gamer X could probably use these for his expansion, which means all he needs to do at this point is get a couple of functions added into the program for an official release.

*gets all excited* YAY!

Actually, Cactus just recently sent me some of the stuff I'll need for an official release; though I haven't had time to work on it just yet, what with school and all.  I've made some modifications to the program already, fixing some bugs and whatnot, but there are still several things to be changed/added beyond the new cards and their pictures.

Rough estimate: Two weeks?

I think you should do what's easiest for you, obviously. Having everything in one file might make things slightly easier for people new to downloading custom expansions, but if it would require much extra work, it's probably not worth it.

Even given Gamer X's above post, I think (based on past experience) there's still a good chance he might not be able to find time to finish an official release. If he does, great, but if not, at least we'll still have the custom expansions.

It was nothing personal, you're just a very busy guy (and that's a good thing). Creating RTS and then giving it away for free was extremely nice of you, the fact that you take the time to update it at all is just an even more generous bonus.

I had a similar problem before I deleted the Priest custom expansion I was already using. Once I did that though, everything worked perfectly.

Where do you save the images and the Priests EXP file?  I deleted my old one and the images still don't work.  I can't seem to figure out how to link the file to the images.

You should place the file Priests.exp in your RTS folder (for example, C:\Program Files\RTS).

Then all of the picture files go in the 'pics' folder that is within the RTS folder (c:\Program Files\RTS\pics). The actual link is in the Priests.exp file. The only thing you should have to do to make the link work is to get the pictures into the folder RTS is looking in as mentioned earlier.

So if you're having problems, go to RTS and select the "Options-->Card Graphics-->Picture Directory..." menu item and make sure that the selected picture directory is "C:\Program Files\RTS\pics" (or wherever you saved the picture files).

how did you get this?
Title: Re: Complete Priests expansion file for RTS WITH PICTURES!
Post by: mjwolfe on September 03, 2006, 06:28:45 PM
I scanned in the cards with my scanner, processed them in batch with Paint Shop Pro X and built the expansion file with the Custom Expansion Creator program that comes with RTS (but I think you might have to download it separately). Then I painstakingly re-checked every entry against the cards to try to ensure complete accuracy.

I've only played with my son who was on a different computer in the other room. We learned pretty much how to use RTS ( at least in our own way). I'm looking to actually try to find someone on the boards to play against to learn how to do it over the internet when you can't just yell to them in the other room.

And yeah I bought a complete set of the tall cut cards from JDS (who must have gone to Nats). I wanted them as part of my collection. But I'm still looking forward to the release so that I can get cards that I'll put into my deck.

You need to go into RTS, use the Options->Custom Expansions... menu item and Add... the expansion file into RTS. If that's done, you need to make sure that in Options->Card Graphics the Show menu item is checked and that the pictures you downloaded are in the directory specified in Options->Card Graphics Picture Directory...

Good luck

I've just created a new version of the expansion that has added the Angel at Shur, Harvest Time, Self and World Vision promos. I've also packaged it as a Windows installation program that will install the files in your RTS directory as well as set the options in RTS to add the expansion and turn on the graphics. It's now hosted off of a page on our Redemption Southern California Players Guild web site. Let me know if you have any problems with it and I'll try to get them corrected quickly.

Humph. The installer itself is good however none of the files have the 4 promos which is kinda a bummer cause I was looking forward to testing a deck with Self and Faithful Servant.
Title: Re: Complete Priests, G&H and New Promos for RTS WITH PICTURES!
Post by: mjwolfe on December 09, 2006, 11:14:22 PM
The four promos should be in the files. They show up on my machine with pictures. When you go into the deck editor, do you see any of the card images from the expansions? Their names will be in BOLD. Does the "Priests Expansion plus G and H Starters" show up in the Custom Expansions menu item under the Options menu? What is your picture directory? Options menu, Card Graphics submenu, then Picture Directory?

I had all the cards from the expansions except for the promo's. yes they showed up. its the normal. and then when I removed the expansion and tried to re-install it it didnt work.

Wow, very nice! However, I'm prolly not gonna go back and edit all 60 (or however many??) decks I have built... :P I'll probably just convert them all to text files and then I will still have them around but won't need to keep the expansions if I want to look at them.

If u still have bold text (and multiple copies of some cards in the card list) then u prolly still have some expansions added. Take those off and you should just have one of each card in regular font on the card list.
Title: RoA RTS Files and Installation. Picture Guide included. *new links*
Post by: Lamborghini_diablo on August 10, 2008, 04:20:33 PM
Ok... I was hoping I wouldn't have to do this but... I've been getting so many questions about how to install this expansion that... I finally gave up and decided to make the following Picture Guide for you all who have problems with this.

So, here we go!

***STEP 1***

Download the following two files to your desktop (it doesnt make a difference, but it helps for the guide):

cards.txt (http://rts.captainofthehost.com/cards.txt)
RoA_Pics.zip (http://rts.captainofthehost.com/RoA_Pics.zip)

When you do so, make sure you download them like this:

(https://www.cactusforums.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi189.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz18%2FLambo_Diablo_Svtt%2FRTS%2520Help%2520Guide%2FRTS1.jpg&hash=212125a0a29665300577e5ac408f0838684ea3d7)

***STEP 2***

Once Downloaded, your two files MUST, I repeat MUST look like this:

(https://www.cactusforums.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi189.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz18%2FLambo_Diablo_Svtt%2FRTS%2520Help%2520Guide%2FRTS2.jpg&hash=b8286925b0770a212ca93ec58c9593b3883e5021)

If they look like Internet Explorer links... something went wrong. Contact me on AIM and I can send you the files.

***STEP 3***

Next,  Find your RTS folder. If you used any sort of an installer originally, then follow the following steps.

1. Open My Computer:
2. Go to C Drive:
(https://www.cactusforums.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi189.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz18%2FLambo_Diablo_Svtt%2FRTS%2520Help%2520Guide%2FRTS3.jpg&hash=ca6dd0790a69678a66a3aaffca083ae11470532f)

3. Go to Program Files:
(https://www.cactusforums.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi189.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz18%2FLambo_Diablo_Svtt%2FRTS%2520Help%2520Guide%2FRTS4.jpg&hash=e69de3a2806b3bef961c7ea2d3c3a37b2ffebd2f)

4. Go to RTS:
(https://www.cactusforums.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi189.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz18%2FLambo_Diablo_Svtt%2FRTS%2520Help%2520Guide%2FRTS5.jpg&hash=977aecda72fec9fde664feb6df347188add2596a)

***STEP 4***

Now... let me introduce you to the RTS Folder:

(https://www.cactusforums.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi189.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz18%2FLambo_Diablo_Svtt%2FRTS%2520Help%2520Guide%2FRTS6.jpg&hash=a53bf02c02ed1090cf3de1149aa200e7c980f06d)

Next to the #1 is the Cards.txt file you will be backing up and replacing.
Next to the #2 is the Pics folder where you will be copying the images.

***STEP 5***

Ok now we will be backing up the old Cards file. This is incase something goes wrong and you need to roll back to your old version. To do this, First create a new folder:

(https://www.cactusforums.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi189.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz18%2FLambo_Diablo_Svtt%2FRTS%2520Help%2520Guide%2FRTS7.jpg&hash=69d690b05cd2653a81bc98d3f6e5fefa390b5e5e)

Then, Name it whatever you want, and drag the cards file into it:

(https://www.cactusforums.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi189.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz18%2FLambo_Diablo_Svtt%2FRTS%2520Help%2520Guide%2FRTS8.jpg&hash=05a84aece99eb44611b8e246d36825ceae4d894b)

***STEP 6***

Now, simply copy the Cards File on your desktop into the RTS folder:

(https://www.cactusforums.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi189.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz18%2FLambo_Diablo_Svtt%2FRTS%2520Help%2520Guide%2FRTS9.jpg&hash=fdbf15eeb8bb91544de2aa57933d9685efc110a6)

***STEP 7***

Next, we will be installing the image files. To do this, first, open up the .zip folder on your desktop, shown next to the folder in this picture:

(https://www.cactusforums.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi189.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz18%2FLambo_Diablo_Svtt%2FRTS%2520Help%2520Guide%2FRTS10.jpg&hash=3964d67b36368770a31dfc60d51d9d66f3f4c6ac)

Now, select all the images by hitting [Ctrl] + [A], and then copy then with [Ctrl] + [C].

Go back into the RTS folder, and open up the Pics folder I told you about earlier:

(https://www.cactusforums.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi189.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz18%2FLambo_Diablo_Svtt%2FRTS%2520Help%2520Guide%2FRTS11.jpg&hash=a91e1ddd51226208d15b570a1e7db9a2f3dd64f0)

Copy the images into this folder.

***Step 8***

From here, you should be good to go! Happy RTS'ing!

Well, you should be able to open the .zip then.

Try right clicking it and see if an "Extract All" option is there.

Lambo:  Look at your links and see if the URLs have a "?attredirects=0" string at the end.  If so, delete it.  That should allow direct downloads.

Anyone else have a problem with the Rabsaris and the Rabsaris attacks switching card art?

Also, add Windows of Narrow Light. Even if we don't have an image.

Probably what we need to do before that is get some missing cards in there, like Split Altar and other new promos.  Also, I'd like to clean it up (the file, that is) and get rid of unnecessary cards.  For instance, we really only need one generic lost soul card.  It's important everyone get the same version so if Gil can host it with the entire RTS package then that would the ideal way to go.

Thought??

Yeah, my 2nd thought was, once all the promos are added, I will have someone host a complete .zip file of the RTS folder, and they can just download it and replace their old folder (after copying all their decks out)

Okay, I'll work on it today.  I noticed there were some other things to be edited in the file, too.  (Anyone look at the SA for The Name of the Lord?!  :D )

I'll add the promos that we know about.  (Pictures of them would be very much appreciated from whomever has them.   :prayer: )
Then I can send it to Phil (mixed him up with Gil last post.   :D )

Sound copesthetic?

Sounds good. Until then, this guide works for those who just GOTTA get their hands on RoA. ;)

When the new version is 100% finished, I'll make another guide like this... I have a feeling I'll get at least one person asking how to do it.  :D

and LOL at Name of the Lord.

Please keep the Exodus reference version of Angel of the Lord along with the others if you didn't. Stone Pillar at Bethel is the reason for that.

it isn't working for me. when I click the cards link it brings me to google and then when I click the link there it brings me to HTML file. if I click Save Target to... then it makes a internet file. soooo... can you send it to me via AIM?
Title: Re: RoA RTS Files and Installation. Picture Guide included.

so, did you try ALL of the following?

1) right clicking and clicking Save As on the link posted here.
2) clicking the link posted here, which leads you to the google site and:
    (a) right clicking and clicking Save As on the link there.
    (b) clicking on it.

If none of these STILL work... but if you do 2(b) and it just displays a bunch of random text... you can do this:

Select all the text being displayed and copy it.
Go to the desktop and make a new text file.
name it Cards
paste all that text into it.

that SHOULD work.  if not... just message me @ Lambodiablov on AIM

Look at the image for step 5. Just click Text Document instead of Folder.

Make the new file on the desktop or wherever its most conveniant for you.

Scott, don't remove duplicate cards.  Just because you don't use generic lost souls doesn't mean that others don't use them.  Same goes for any other duplicates.

Whats the point in having 50 ls to scroll through that all just have different images?

Is there any gameplay difference between one generic soul and another?
Title: Re: RoA RTS Files and Installation. Picture Guide included.
Post by: Alex_Olijar on August 12, 2008, 03:49:55 PM
I would say keep one NT soul and one OT soul, but I have no preference. If the card has a special ability (I.E Tables of the Law), please keep all of them.

When I enter in my decks, I type in the first few letters so that it scrolls to the right part of the alphabetical list; the period messes with that a bit. (I also preferred no icon to a wrong icon, but that's just me.)

Next,  Find your RTS folder. If you used any sort of an installer originally, then follow the following steps.

1. Open My Computer:
2. Go to C Drive:
