THE THIRD ANNUAL TJC MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT
PIONEERING A NEW TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE

This announcement is long overdue, but ladies and gentlemen, it is my privilege to introduce the first ever, split-format Redemption tournament.

On Saturday, December 6th, the third annual Thomas Jay Chambers Memorial Tournament will be held. Unlike previous years in which the TJC was a district featuring T1-2P and then the two closed categories, this year's TJC tournament is a singular tournament that incorporates two distinct categories of play and top cut.

The first ever split format tournament will be split between T1-2P and Skinny Cube Draft. To start the day, players will ply their skills in four rounds of T1-2P play that has a nationals level time control and rules enforcement.

Following that, the players will be seeded into 8-player pods of skinny cube draft, where they will draft the patented TJC Iconic Cube (Still under construction, release date is as soon as possible, I just had a newborn three weeks ago guys!). From the 60 cards that you draft, you will construct a 30 card deck and up to 10 card reserve to play against the other players of your pod. You will play to three lost souls, and will play a best two out of three set in 45 minutes. Full Rules Explanation is pending

After the cube draft portion completes, the top four players will proceed to the top cut, a return to T1-2P which will be played in best two out of three format utilizing a chess clock system that involves each player receiving 45 minutes of play, 90 minutes total. The top cut is single elimination, but there is a 3/4 play-off. https://docs.google.com/document/d/19h9PF6WaJvGDV7XnqV01-0dKro76RM67fdWRAd1GX3w/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.dqugkgjrpodt is a set of rules for chess clock protocol. The higher seeded player will have the choice of first or second in game 1, with the losing player getting the choice in subsequent games.

Friday evening will give players a chance to arrive, fellowship, play either T1-2P or Cube Pods for some prize support.

The Results from the Third Annual Thomas Jay Chambers Memorial Tournament! We had 14 total players on Saturday.

1st Place - Jay Chambers (MI)
2nd Place - Jayden Alstad (MN)
3rd Place - Tim Estes (CA)
4th Place - Marc Vellake (NY)

Our Top Four Match-ups were

Jayden Alstad Vs Marc Vellake
Jay Chambers vs Tim Estes

Jayden defeated Marc 2-1 in a nail biting match between one of the best players in the game and an underrated playgroup leader from two different regions of the country. This match finished three games within the chess clock time limits. This game is available on Redemption with Jayden.

Jay defeated Tim in a clash of titans 2-1, finishing three games within the time limit. In game 3, Jay attacked for and rescued his fifth soul with 3 minutes remaining on Tim's clock. This footage is available on BaboonyTim's channel, currently pending upload.

Jay and Jayden, two contemporary personalities with a long history of tournament rivalry in T1-2P faced off in an epic finals match that saw Jay win game 1 in a nail-biter that saw over half of Jayden's clock depleted. Jayden then won a hard fought game 2, for his clock to expire on the third turn of game 3, leading to Jay's victory in the finals and taking his second victory over the tournament that honors his two departed sons (y'all, it is weird writing in third person about yourself).

Thanks to all for coming out!

Friday Playmat tournament winners
