I know the regular tournaments are excellent, but has anyone thought of doing a Jr. Tournament league for kids only?
Maybe have a few bigger redemption players they could play against for an elite prize, but still have normal prizes like the normal tournaments for normal categories?
-
I think this is a great idea! We could call it type K for kids
-
Yeah it's called Type A. They do it every year at Nats and I've also heard of it being run at other major tournaments with lots of younger kids.
-
At tournaments in MN we do a what we call a type A for junior players running alongside type 1. The problem with junior tournaments is you would be tapping into a smaller subset of players who would want to come.

LOL... I saw what you did there.... ;D

I've thought about doing Type A at the tourneys I host but there simply aren't enough Type A players that show up. And some of the kids are just over the age cap for Type A so that limits it further.

Since Type A isn't an official Cactus sanctioned category anyway, I don't see why you couldn't be somewhat flexible with the age limit.
-
I could and don't mind doing it but it still comes down to the number of kid players participating too.
-
Gotta start recruiting those RLKs. I hear Angel Wars is effective ;)
-
I'd just love to have enough players in the area that creating a separate category was a viable option.
-
thanks guys, I didn't realize there was a "Type A"...and I agree Kevin, my hope is to get a majority of our kids/youth in on Redemption at church. We have about 25+ kids who all play pokemon and such. So I am really talking up redemption with them for August, when I am praying to start our playgroup.
-
Awesome!
I would encourage you to reach out to parents too! Bill V (everytribe) originally started playing because it was a fun hobby he could do with his son (TheHobbit), and God used that to do some really cool stuff in the Twin Cities playgroup. 8)

The age limit and RNRS point thing are somewhat flexible. We had a 13 year old or two in Type A this year.

So it could be 14 or 15 years olds to I guess.

Does it count if you look 12 clean shaven? Cause I mean.... I'd probably still lose anyways. Lol
