This will be the next ROOT tournament for the 2012-2013 Season. If you want to join, post here telling me that, and I will give you a matchup for next week.

Players have suggested many rule modifications in the past.  This month we will be doing a "Uthminister Draft".  The way this works is that there is ONLY 1 copy of every card ever made.
1 - Each player who signs up picks 2 colors of offense and 2 colors of defense.  Everyone has access to brigadeless cards (Doms, Arts, Forts, Sites, & LSs).  Multi-colored cards are available to anyone who chooses at least 1 of their colors.
2 - Each player then makes up a 150 card draft list choosing only from those cards with the card that they want the most at #1 down to the one they want the least at #150.  They PM that list to me.
3 - Once I have all the lists, I'll do a 75 card draft using their lists (skipping any cards that are already taken), and send a PM back to let each person know what cards they ended up getting.
4 - Each player makes a legal deck on RTS using only the cards they received in my PM.
5 - On Aug 3rd, we'll have a "live" tournament online where everyone uses only this deck.

Firstly, when you join, I need to know which 2 colors of offense and defense you would like to choose from.

Secondly, if you are going to join, please be at least pretty sure (8 out of 10) that you'll be able to be free that day (ex. you are usually free on Sat, or at least can be if you plan on it).  Since space is limited, I don't want to knock people out of spots for no-shows

Do lost souls have to be included in our 150 card list?

They do if you want ones with special abilities.  Otherwise, you can fill in however many more you need with No SA LSs.

This might be balanced somewhat though as the people who sign on last will have the best chance to pick colors that less other people are using, and therefore will have less competition for the top cards.

That being said...Brown is no longer available at this point.  Of course you could still pick up some brown guys by choosing other colors (ex. Getting The Amalekites Slave by picking evil gold).

Do the cards everyone has access to go on our 150 list?

Yes.  Other than No SA LSs, any card that you want in your deck will have to be on your 150 list.  If you want one of the 10 Son of God cards (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J) you'll have to draft it.  More challenging will be drafting 1 of the 2 New Jerusalem dominants (Warriors, Promo).

An important note about drafting cards that have multiple variants:
You only have to specify which variant of a card you want IF they are different.  For instance if you draft "Son of God", then as long as any of them are left, you'll just get one.  However, if you want the New Jerusalem dominant or the New Jerusalem site, you'll have to be specific.  If you do NOT specify which variant you want you'll get the one that appears first on 3LG price list.  So if you just put Bravery of David, and don't say which one you want, you'll be stuck with the stinky one

Son of God has different variants, so actually you should have to specify that.

Good point.  I guess you would need to put the I/J SoG in as one spot on your list of 150, and put that A-H SoG in a separate spot since there is a functional difference between those.

Good Green & Evil Brown are both gone at this point.

If this is truly supposed to be a draft using every Redemption cards made then each SoG should be available to select. Ex: SoG A deck, SoG B deck, SoG C deck...

You might decide within that whether or not you want to use the various reprintings of the same card. Ex: SoG C deck and SoG c deck.

I agree. Honestly, I think it might be best to simply spot everyone in the tournament the four A-H starter doms, since there are so many variants of those, and let all the other doms be part of the draft. But I won't be able to commit to it either way (considering I have a tournament each of the two previous weekends) so take my suggestion as you will.

Why don't we just draft our four colors and let artifacts, doms, lost souls, ...etc be available no matter what. Doms are a pretty big deal and I would like to see a balanced tournament.

Updated.  With only 5 participants currently, this is looking to be a short tournament.  I though about just dropping it, but I suppose that it might be helpful to try this once with a smaller group to see how it goes.  Then we could learn whether it is fun enough to do it with a bigger group in the future.

Sad to say but I think I'm going to have to back out. I just found out that I won't be available that day. Sorry to let everyone down.
