Title: ROOT 2010 Nats Alternative
Post by: Prof Underwood on August 06, 2010, 04:23:42 PM
As everyone knows, next week is the totally awesome Redemption National Tournament.  Many people will converge from around the country to this super fun event.  There will be new champions, and new rivalries, new Disciples cards, and new inside jokes.  Anyone who can go, should go.

But what about the people who really can NOT go?  Well ROOT is going to be doing something new this year to give those people at least something to look forward to.  For these people we are proud to announce the first annual...

Live Online Alternative Nats!!!

It will be held on Saturday August 14th, and it will be run just like a standard tournament, except that people will be playing from around the country and all the games will be online.  Each round players will be paired up using the Swiss system, and they will have 90 mins to finish their game and report their scores.  After a short break (~15 mins), they will be re-paired, and the next round will start.

There will also be prizes for this special 1-day tournament!  The top 3 finishers will each receive:1 BRAND-NEW DISCIPLES PACK!  Yes, that's right, the new set that will be released at Nats :)

Only sign up for this event if you can be available online ALL DAY on Saturday Aug 14th, just as if you were actually going to a tournament that day.  We will be starting in the morning (probably around 10:30am EST = 7:30am PST).  Assuming that we have 16 people sign up, we'll need to have 4 rounds, and will probably do 5 rounds.  That would put us finishing in the evening (probably around 8:30pm EST = 5:30pm PST).  Please be considerate of others and only sign up if you are sure that you'll be able to play during those times.

Sign-up Sheet:
1. Kyp Henderson
2. Prof Underwood
3. 77Matthew
4. Eric the Wolfe
5. _JM_
6. King Leo
7. Sir Nobody
8. Jim Hartz
9. Juhnkect (had to drop after the 1st round)

Ok, I'm going to go out on a limb and say yes I can but if something comes up the latest you'll know is friday afternoon.

Question: I assume t1 ONLY since the 90 mins thing?

Gabe isn't playing HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEE.

EDIT: another question. deck checks? or honor system?

double post I know:

May I suggest a specific hamachi channel for this? (1 channel will hold 16 correct?)

OK, keep us posted.

Question: I assume t1 ONLY since the 90 mins thing?
You assume correctly.

EDIT: another question. deck checks? or honor system?
We'll run the regular ROOT system of honor system on decks, but also the limit of 3 Haman's Plots over the course of the tournament.  Each person will just state whether a HP was used by their opponent when they report the score.

May I suggest a specific hamachi channel for this? (1 channel will hold 16 correct?)
Great idea.  If you are participating in this tournament, please join:

Do you live near Darlington, or are you just a huge Nascar fan? My brother has Start/Finish line seats at New Hampshire International Speedway.

The rules are standard T1-2p rules.  As for joining, how about if you let me know closer to that Sat if you want in, just to make sure something doesn't come up that will interfere with you being available all day.

I don't live far from Darlington, Dad's a bigger fan than me, but I watch every now and again. And it's hard to pass up a good race.

You are signed up.  And yes, we'll do it regardless of the number of participants.  However, if there are a smaller number of people then we'll do a smaller number of rounds.  We'll do the minimum + 1 rounds.

Currently (assuming Raven plays) we have 6 people which would require 3 rounds, so we'd do 4.

Please put me on the maybe list.  If I can get hamachi installed on my other computer, then I can play.  If I can't get it installed, am I allowed to use a program other than hamachi to play?  But if that makes it more difficult just ignore that comment.  But definately put me on the maybe list.  Thanks for doing this, this sounds like a great idea.

I have used it before but now something messed up on my computer.  So now I have to try to install it on the other one.  By the way, what if there is an odd number of players, I will drop out so there won't have to be a bye.

Edit:  And I assume we are not allowed to have custom cards of ourselves in our decks lol.
