Once again... please stop putting me down on the boards.

Secondly, I made the challenge on Monday in other parts of the East Coast, such did Raven. It was technically Monday in the US.

Third, you are a great player and I enjoy playing you. Yes, we've had our differences shown in the after-game talk but I still enjoy playing other top players in the nation. As it was Monday, I don't think that you can decline.

Im sorry.  I'm not sure how I put you down.  Could you please show me?

I challenge... Gabe.

That challenge was made at 11:25 my time on Sunday.  Since you're 2 hours behind me that would be 9:25 your time.  It was not yet Monday for either of us.

Reasons to legitimately refuse a challenge:
       4.  If you are challenged on Sunday prior to the next week.

That's from the tournament rules from the first page.

Putting me down was the wrong choice of words. I meant making our PM arguments public on the boards. No one needed to know that I said I didn't want to play you anymore. If you can show me what that has to do with redemption, then post it. Otherwise, it doesn't belong here and is not appropriate to post.

I thought that since it was Monday on the East Coast I was in a position to challenge, even though it wasn't Monday to me. Since I was wrong, I challenge Sauce. We haven't played in a very long time.  :)

#1 - I think that since Cactus headquarters (ie. Rob) is in the EST, as are Soul Seeker and myself, and as are a lot of other Redemption players, that it is entirely appropriate to go by EST when making Monday challenges in ROOT.

#2 - I think that whenever players have a personal problem that it should be handled privately, unless there is a problem that would also affect other players.  If that is the case, then probably they should let SoulSeeker know about it, and then give him the opportunity to make whatever is necessary public.

I would think so, but Gabe seems to disagree.  So unless Gabe changes his mind, then we'll have to wait for SoulSeeker to weigh in with the deciding vote.

Let's make sure that we don't have a double standard.  If that's the standard for everyone, then games played in other time zones after 12am EST can't count towards the previous week.

That seems kind of silly since, on more than one occasion, I know that people have been trying to get last minute games in on a Sunday night to get all three in.

As long as we're consistent I'm OK with whatever we decide going forward.

That's a good point.  And I'm all about consistency.  I think we should have a set rule that always applies.  However, I would also like to see both coasts being given grace in the way that helps most.

In other words, I would like to see the deadline for starting challenges be Midnight Mon EST so that people can make challenges as early as possible.

And I would like to see the deadline for the week's end to be Midnight Sun PST so that people get as much time to get games in as possible.

Do you like that idea?

I agree, it was a great game.  CalebJ played great against a deck that he isn't used to, and held on for the tie in a nail-biter.

I might have muddied the waters because I wasn't paying attention to detail early Monday morning.  I just went through the thread typing in all the challenges I came across.  Later, the time factor was brought to my attention.  Though it is not stated anywhere, I have been using Midnight PST as the standard "line in the sand" on what is Sunday and what is Monday. Below are the following reasons:
     1.  A non-fluctuating line can cut down on confusion and angst.  (I should have written the time deadline out, and for that I apologize.)
     2.  I use the latest time possible to help everyone.  EST people willing to stay up late has the opportunity to get games in against West Coast people (or anybody else up at that time) at the last minute.
     3.  Everybody has equal opportunity to challenge someone.  West Coasters can stay up late (ESTers REALLY late) or people can just wait to challenge in the morning.
     4.  Using PST takes away all excuses because Midnight of the final time zone has given everyone ample opportunity to get their games in.  To make up for the PST, in a round about way, gets first crack at challenges if they are willing to stay up until Midnight.
     5.  By having two lines, technically people could start playing the second's weeks games before the first week is even done.  And THAT would be really confusing.

Those are my thoughts, and I will go correct the rules now to prevent further confusion.

To hopefully avoid anymore bad feelings, I will not force Gabe to play LN because it was not midnight in either of their zones.  Had LN waited 35 more minutes for Gabe's zone to hit midnight then that would probably be a different story.  LN challenge will stand against Sauce (but I'm not sure if Sauce is playing this month so you may want to check on that.)

Jon how many points did I get for beating Underwood? It looks like you gave me 7 but by my calcualtions I should only get 6 - (3 for the victory + 3 because he's 6 spots above me.)

Also If we are using PST I officially re-challenge Crustpope as it was not yet midnight in PST.

Thanks for rechallenging to make it easier in that department, and thanks for being honest about the points.  My math gets fuzzy sometimes.  I will correct it.
