Title: Territory Class Enhancements- general questions
Post by: pinkfloyd on September 10, 2020, 06:01:26 PM
I don't have a handle on these cards yet, so I'll use examples that have come up recently.  1.  Speak Favorably is a dual alignment enhancement with the territory class icon.  The first 3 words onit are "Place in Territory."  Which brings up my first question--an enhancement can't just 'hang out' in a territory, right? Doesn't  it have to be attached to a hero or evil character?   2.  Speak Favorable is a green good enhancement and I forget the evil colors, but it's a dual evil enhancement.  If I have it placed in my territory on a green hero (Paladin), and am in the process of trying a rescue with Jarius (white hero), can I activate it to knock out the last evil enhancement played, even though the brigade color on the enhancement isn't white to match Jarius?  If not, it seems like the card could never be used "outside of battle", since enhancements (as best I can tell) are always played during a battle of some sort.  I guess I really just need a clarification on when these territory cards can be played outside of battle as well as during battle, and if the usual color restrictions still apply?

1. Usually you're correct, but enhancements that specifically say "Place in territory: ..." actually can be in your territory without being placed on anyone. Most of these are territory class, but there are a few older ones that aren't, and some (like Abomination of Desolation and the Sin enhancements from Priests) that you place in your opponent's territory. If it needed to be on a character, it would be like Wheel Within a Wheel ("Place on your angel: ...") or Love of Money ("Place on your evil human: ..."), but "Place in territory" means it doesn't need a character.
2. The brigade on placed enhancements like that only matters when you play it. Once it's in play, you can use it whenever you want (including outside of battle, to counter your opponent's territory class enhancements), even if there's no hero of matching brigade in battle (or even in play!).

One note on the dual-alignment TC cards is you have to remember how you played them - if you play Speak Favorably on a Hero, it is just a good card while it remains placed (and vice versa if played on an EC).
