Does Hezekiah's Signet Ring stop Shem's Wife?

Could you expand more on what HSR stops?  I was under the impression it didn't because Shem's Wife is a play ability.

Any ability that targets a card in a non-specific (top/bottom) location of a deck, discard pile, or Reserve includes a search of that pile.

So HSR does stop Shem's Wife.

For clarity, HSR doesn't stop Reserve searches, because it predates the Reserve by a decade and so it doesn't mention it.
