Saint of Virtue - negate and discard...

I have been reading up on immediate and ongoing effects, and also reading forum questions about cards that continue to affect play even after they hit the discard pile (which really baffles me, but I'll get it!).  My question is simpler, I think, and has to do with ongoing vs. immediate effects.    St. of Virtue is the card I present to initiate a battle to rescue a soul.  It read in par "You may negate and discard and Evil Enhancement.''....   Now, assuming there aren't any EEs in the opponents territory, I don't even have a blocker yet.  Do I get to negate & discard an evil enhancement when my opponent gets his turn, and eventually plays an evil enhancement?  Or is the chance to negate and discard gone with the wind, since there was nothing to N & D when I played Saint of Virtue?

You get to negate and discard when Saint of Virtue enters battle. If there's nothing to negate and discard, you don't get the benefit of that part of the ability. You could band him in later to negate and discard an EE in battle, but he's really intended to hit EEs in an opponent's territory - an equipped weapon, a placed Enhancement, etc.
