Title: Need 2016 National Promos
Post by: Crashfach2002 on April 14, 2020, 01:07:02 PM
Since I am almost done with my collection I wanted to see if anyone had these cards they were selling and/or trading.  I have a ton of stuff I could trade WAY in your favor, or do some of this and still give some money too.  I will even pay "full price" at this point to finish my collection!  I no longer need the Angel of the Lord but I do need:

Son of God and Captain of the Host.

Thanks!

I feel ya, the only cards I need to complete my singles is 2016 son of God and 2 alt border roj cards (Guardian of your souls and 1 of the lost souls). Not including 2 of the new ur+ and 4 ur from New set.

So many people didn't want the 2016 promos coming out in the PoC phase 1, and yet you have proof here the value would not have gone down a bit!  :P

I'll be honest up front, I'm not really interested in parting with mine. But "full price" got me to consider it. What exactly does that mean though?

Normally I go by TLG prices, however the 2016 winner promos are prices the same as the 2017 and 2018. I think we all know those aren't equal in value. That indicates to me that either the 2017 and 2018 are over prices or the 2016 are under priced. Maybe both.

I don't know honestly.  When the 2016 ones first came out SoG was $200, with the others a bit lower.  I honestly felt that was a "worthy" price as these are some of the few "true chase" cards.  Like you said there is NO WAY the 2016 promos should be the same price as the later ones.  So maybe the 2016 is a little under priced and the others a tad over priced.

*Added:  As a note, I've recently traded several of my "Nats only" promos for a discounted price for URs to finish up my collection.  I would NEVER consider doing this for the 2016 ones though.*

So maybe the better question is this.  What is the number that people with the 2016 promos need to get to part with them?  Obviously this will vary but it would be interesting to find out.  I would obviously love an opportunity to get a hold of one, so I do want to know, but might be a full little bit of information as well.

Speaking as a collector who owns all three of the 2016 Nats Promos: I view them like I would rare error cards. They are the rarest cards outside of error cards. I think most collectors such as myself would only be willing to part with them if we were selling out of Redemption completely or if we hit financially troubled times and needed the money. They are some of the most prized cards in my collection. In fact they are the most prized cards to me in my collection apart from two super rare white angel error cards that I acquired.

In the event of someone selling their 2016 Nats promos I would say the following are fair values: Son of God ($200), Captain of the Host ($100), Angel of the Lord ($75).

This might seem high but due to the rarity and if the prices of the other Nats promos remain where they are (which I think the 17-19 Nats promos are fairly priced) this seems reasonable.

I think someone's best bet at getting a hold of the 2016 Nats promos is if someone who was more a player than a collector happened to have a set of them. The issue with this though is I doubt many non-collectors have a set of them!

EDIT: I would not go much higher than $200 on the 2016 Son of God promo. Reason being I have valued the rarest card in the game: the Angel at Shur promo white brigade error card at $250 which I feel is a fair price for it.
