Title: Last Attempt to sell before I shred them
Post by: Sean on February 03, 2011, 10:39:21 AM
I am selling the following for $25.00 or best offer.  I accept paypal.

I got all of these card from two separate Booster events.  Lot includes commons, rares, etc.. from every set except women and warriors.  Approximately 150 cards total.  Notable cards below. BTW, Notables are valued at more than $25.00 so this is a steal.

Philistine Outpost
Habakkuk
Wandering Spirit
Spirit of Temptation
Enchanter
Emperor Nero
Angry Mob
A New Beginning
Joseph in Prison
Jonathan son of Joiada
Saint Patrick
Ira (Kings)
Thomas

This is not an auction.  Give your best offer not a sympathy bid.

SomeKittens has offered $15.00

I will withdraw interest then; his group would use any card he gets better than I will.

Your post said "before I shred them".  Either you were exagerrating with that statement and would NOT actually shred the cards under any circumstance, or you'd rather shred the cards than sell them to someone for $5.  Which is it?

I'm glad you're up to $15 now, but I hope you can see how the statement "before I shred them" would lead someone to think that you would prefer something to nothing.  If you have a minimum offer in mind just say so and save people from "insulting you".

My comment was directed at Prof U because he offered a bid which to me was an insult.  I didn't ask for bids, I asked for best offer.  $1.00 as a best offer is absurd and disrespectful.  Such an offer tells me that he is just looking to take monetary advantage of somebody who doesn't want cards, not a Christian act in my opinion.

And yes, shredding them is/was an exaggeration.

Sean...relax. I know Prof U personally and he did not mean any disrespect. He has a growing playgroup with limited resources to get cards for them. You did say you would shred them which is an exageration (a,k.a. a lie) which is not Christian either. However I gave you the benefit of the doubt. Give people some grace man!

LOL, I'm completely calm.  I can't express my displeasure without people thinking I'm angry?  This is ridiculous...

Wow, that is pretty strong criticism for just "expressing your displeasure".  I did not mean any disrespect by giving a low bid.  I very rarely buy cards at all due to lack of funds, but I figured I'd at least draw some attention to your thread by starting a bidding war for you.

If no one else wanted them for more (which I assumed that people would outbid me), then I would get a good deal, and the cards wouldn't get shredded.  I didn't see any harm.  Obviously you did, and I regret that I caused you offense.

Best offer =/= bid low to get cards for +90% off their trade/sell value.
I didn't realize that needed to be described.

The whole "communication via post" deal is a tricky one...one must choose wisely when deciding what to write and how to write it. (And I know you know this, just a reminder cuz we all lose sight of that sometimes.)

A simple "C'mon Prof, you can do better than that  ;)" or "Just to clarify this is not an auction and I'll pass on the $1 offer Prof U" would have made the same point without making people wonder if you were angry.

I agree with you that getting lowballed is kind of a slap in the face, but knowing Prof U as I do, I know that was not his intention at all--he simply misinterpreted what you were intending to do...it happens.

Anyway, let's just move on...glad the cards aren't going to be facing the shredder... :P

exageration (a,k.a. a lie)
An exaggeration is never wrong, I use them all the time. In fact, I've done it twice in this post.

I agreed to sell them to SomeKittens yesterday.  Please contact him through PM and cc me to inquire if he would be willing to let you buy the cards.  I would accept $15 from you.
