Hi there,
don't know whether this is the correct forum but I'll just ask:
Since I got offered a big collection which consist of older cards (in terms of Sets: Kings, Priests, Disciples, Starters G to J) but also some newer ones (FoM, CoW, RoJ, ...).
There are some URs and Promos within all of these sets as well as some signed cards.
I cannot check for the price of every individual cards so I orientate on the prices at which the newer commons sets (FoM, RoJ, ... - since they are near to complete) could be bought back then and check the few URs individually. For the older sets I maybe can check for their completeness too but do not have any clue how to estimate their value.
I want to get an idea about the value in order to make a fair offer (while I will consider that the cards are used and when bying the entire collection lots of them I own already - want to donate lots of them to an interested player within UK).
Any hints and ideas are very welcome!

I have bought large lots of cards a couple of times and the agreed upon price was way under "market value". The owners got what they wanted out of the cards and I got the cards for what I was willing to part with, hence a deal was struck. Maybe see how much they want for the cards first. At minimum, it is a point to start at.

Me too. Unfortunately sellers will not be bothered much by me in terms of negotiating, deal-making, whatsoever. What both of you mentioned is also my current attempt. But in order to keep negotiation short I wanted to offer a reasonable, well founded price. Since we all are not very firm in value of older cards I tried to get some experience/estimation from the experts around here.
E.g. what would be a reasonable value for a Disciples/Kings/Priests/... set (if complete). From that starting point I can substract accordingly. But well: I did not yet ask in this manner. :)
