Title: Good Deal?
Post by: ACe on January 21, 2010, 02:15:24 PM
All of the first expansions:originals women warrior prophets and promos + a near complete set of apostles (minus two ultra rare) and patriarchs(minus Rares and ultras) plus a King David, King Solomon and John Promo for $50 dollars? I offered a friend $50 for all of it he said he would take other offers, if he doesn't i get this for 50

Tell your friend I'll pay $55. ;)

But seriously, the 'Factory' deal from Cactus includes less than this and it's worth $150.

Right, a complete set of the first expansions goes for $150 on Cactus (http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=66).  Adding in Apostles (assuming GoYS is one of the missing), Pats commons (inc HP), and King David is probably another $100-$150.

$50 is way too low an offer for that set.

Angry Mob is missing - Do you know the other one? If you say casting lots I'm going to laugh and procede to tell you that the set is now worth at least $265.

Personally I would do your friend a favor and have him sell them off in smaller chunks (maybe by sets, or groups of Ultras/good rares with extra commons and uncommons). He could make a lot more money that way if he's willing to put in the extra work. You could even do it for him and maybe get a cut of the proceeds. But as has been mentioned before, $50 is way too low.

I agree with the other guys.  His cards are worth WAY more than $50.  That would be about the best deal I've ever seen for the buyer, and really not very fair to the seller.

Well he wanted to give it to me for 50 because he quit playing 4 years ago and I just started a play group up and he said I would put it to good use. He said he knew how much it would be if he sold it to any one else

What a great guy!  ;D

I'm sure he is right, too. Eager hosts are hard to find, so have at it. The deals I got from Roy Cruz and Ken Shartle when I started my playgroup in CT were insane!

Well in that case, it's a good deal for everyone--Your friend who gets to make a it of cash and help out a friend and others, you who gets a sweet deal on some good cards, and the people in your playgroup, who get access to said good cards. Just make sure his generosity inspires the same kind of generosity in you, and it'll be all good.
