Title: Arrival Date for The Disciples
Post by: CactusRob on August 10, 2010, 03:16:48 PM
I had a few boxes of cards shipped via air so that we could have The Disciples available for booster draft and for sale at Nationals.  That went okay and we will have the cards at Nationals.  UPS just delivered the last box of cards that was shipped via air.  This will give us a small amount of cards to sell at the Cactus web site after Nationals - a number of people have already pre-ordered at the cactus web site.

Now comes the rub.  The balance of the cards were loaded into a container and sent from our printer to the Hong Kong port 10 days ago to be shipped by sea.  By now, those cards would normally be on the water and we would receive them in another 20 to 25 days.  However, there is quite a log jam at the HK port and the container that has our cards has yet to be loaded on a ship and set sale.  At this point I can't even get more cards shipped via air because they are in a sealed container sitting somewhere at the HK port.  It appears that it will be mid September before we receive most of the new cards.  Once the cards arrive, we need to assemble the packs and displays before we can ship orders to our distributors and stores.

So, if you are coming to Nationals you can at least get some packs.  If we have around 200 players then everyone can buy up to 12 packs.  If we have less players, you can buy a few more packs.  You can also buy some packs at the Cactus web site while they last.  Otherwise, it will likely be late Sept before you can buy cards from your local store or distributor.

No.  Only foiled wrapped booster packs are eligible for barcode redemption.  In other words, booster pack barcodes will not get you free starter decks, gift sets, FoOF, ROA, Tep or Disciples items.   Also the barcodes from these other items are not worth anything.  I mention this because some people have sent in TeP barcodes and a few have sent in starter deck barcodes.

Moreover, I am not accepting barcodes at Nationals in any case.  So, please leave your barcodes at home (or mail them in).

so if im understanding correctly, if we order packs via the cactus website, these will be the packs shipped via air and not from the boat? meaning if we place an order we wont have to wait until late september?

how many packs will we be able to order off the cactus website? will we be able to use redemption cash?

and last, will there be disciples super packs like last years texp?

A couple of random TxP packs had bonus cards, such as King David, or a playtest card (such as Plague of Frogs, which was opened at Nats).  The Disciples hasn't been announced to have these.

actually, those can be contained in regular packs. super packs were packed more full of rares and ultra rares than regular packs.

Packs ordered at the web site began shipping yesterday.  At present I have put no limit on the quantity you can order - they are while they last.  There are no "super" packs in Disciples and no longer super packs for TeP.

That was my only dislike about TxP, not being able to send in the barcodes for free packs.

Will the Disciples packs be foil-wrapped and eligible for barcode redemption?

They are in a box, like TeP is...we've got at least 2 years before we will see foil wrapped cards to redeem UPCs again...

Rob, is there an update? If you don't reply, we'll assume you're busy assembling the packs  :)
