3rd Edition Starter Decks - Sold Out
« on: March 20, 2012, 02:01:42 PM »
0
Cactus achieved a bit of a milestone this week.  We sold the last of the 3rd Edition starter decks.  Some distributors and stores have known for a couple of months that these were almost gone when we kept canceling their orders.  We had 30 or so display boxes to start the year and I held those back for website sales.  Now they are gone.

You may still find some stores or distributors with inventory but, Cactus is officially sold out.  Thank you.

That's really cool. Congrats, I wonder what will be next to sell out.  Glad I still have a couple of those, guess I will be holding on to them.

By the way, does this make these the only cards (other than promos) that are no longer available at all since they aren't in the factory set?

2nd Edition Starter Decks come to mind (C & D decks).

I am hoping to get some cards to Nationals in August and be shipping to distributors and stores by early September.

I forgot about those - thanks for the reminder!

Is that a confirmation that the new set is definitely a starter deck?

Will you be bringing a proof sheet to Southeast Regionals again?  :prayer:

It's been confirmed as a starter deck by multiple Elders for a while now.

Just imagine if Alaska had a large enough playgroup to host NW Regionals.   ::)

Of course, if the SW Regionals were held in Hawaii I think they might get a bigger attendance than Nationals.  ;D

Not likely. The letter for the starter deck is displayed in the lower left corner of each card in the deck. We already have cards that have an "I" there, because of FoOF tin #1. These decks would have to be J/K (and that's no joke!).

Now that would be confusing... everbody would be like, where's the I decks? I think you could rid of the letter system at this point probably

Actually we decided to just go ahead and jump straight to the M/N decks. Also known as the Minnesota decks.

Thus they contain no orange cards. In fact, they contain no defense at all - A tribute to our beastly playstyle.

it is interesting to see that the "cat is out of the bag" without an official announcement.

How about a new A and B decks since there are no cards with A and B on them 2nd or 3rd Edition AB decks?

Maybe symbols for the cards rather then letters?

Also why can't I be use, the ten current I cards also have the FOOF symbol on them, the new starter would not

You think those will be beastly, just wait until the O/P decks come out soon afterward.

Which will be massively overshadowed when the Que decks come out.

We'll be able to have tournaments outside with the U/V decks.  You'll need to be sure to bring extra sleeves for protection.

Deck's N/O will be nothing but negates and restrictions.  Or, maybe we'll use the N/O deck to introduce the Bounty concept in Redemption - you get a bonus for removing opponent's heroes from the game.  Just don't get caught (or the next year you'll have to mind your Ps and Qs).
