Title: Sorry to be impatient, but...
Post by: stefferweffer on April 05, 2012, 11:27:04 AM
I was amazed that we were still in the first round of the best EC contest.  And I looked at one of them and it says it was added on 4/2 and will not close until 4/7?  Is every round of this contest going to last 5 days?

Quite frankly, if it is 5 days per round (and there appear to be 6 rounds), I don't think I can stay interested in this contest this long.  Thanks for seeing if it might be better to speed this up a little.

I'm in agreement with this sentiment. Taking a day off of the run time of the polls might be a good idea.

It's called April Fools. March Madness took nearly all of March, why shouldn't April Fools take nearly all of April? Some number of characters to vote between, same amount of time.

Maybe it's worth looking at this way.  Track how many votes come in on each day.  If I'm correct in my guess, I'm thinking that greater than 80% of the votes comes in the first 3 days.  Most of us who are voting are in these forums at least once every 3 days.

I actually liked the system put in place last month, with a smaller number of people per day, and the contests didn't run as long.

So when does round 2 start?

I'lll address some of the logistical issues going on.

I had volunteered to lead AF and Prof A was cool with that, but unfortunately, I was never able to be granted the power to create polls (despite several PMs to Schaef), so Prof A is now back in charge of the poll creation aspect of AF. He was merely using the poll lengths I had asked him to use. Round 2 should begin the next time Prof A signs on, as I am PMing him momentarily.

Thanks very much Alex.  That does explain a lot.

Also, I'll announce here and in the other thread that Rehoboam wins the tie. I just took away my vote (since Bryon normally does not vote in order to break potential ties) to decide it. I won't be voting again unless there's a tie. That also means technically Ahab v Complainers was a tie, but I then voted for Ahab.

Carry on.
