Which is the better Redemption hero?
Micah
Hur
-
This one is a really close call, Hur is a CBN disrupt + d7 with gifts up, but Micah can recur, hmmm... I think I'll hold off on voting for this one.
-
Micah: Great for Recursion of two bears. H.T. ability. Good initiative. Protection from Caves.
Hur: Screws with opponents hands. Draws a lot with Gifts up.
Micah
-
Micah has HT, Caves, Two Bears, and can recur a lot of great enhancements. Hur has Gifts.
-
I can't believe Micah is winning this. Hur is the best soulgenning Hero in the game, and has potential for HUGE draws (not just with Gifts, either).

King Amaziah is technically a soulgenning hero, and much, much better, IMO.

Amaziah isn't better specifically at soulgenning though. In fact, The Woman at the Well is the best soulgenning hero, with Hur being a close second in my opinion.
-
Hur: Useless in T2
Micah: Somewhat useful in T2
Micah wins by a landslide.
-
Micah is just another Prophet, and a very ho-hum one in a field of great Heroes. Yes, he can recur Enhancements, but all Green enhancements are rubbish. The only reason I say Hur is an even better soulgenner than WatW is because Hur can bring out multiple LS's so that Burial, or in some cases SoG won't deprive you of the generated soul.

On the other hand, Hur doesn't guarantee that any soul will be drawn. I think that that comes down entirely to what style you want, but for all intents and purposes, I'd take The Woman at the Well over Hur any day strictly for generating souls.
-
Maybe so, but Hur definitely has the edge on drawing.
-
Hmm as I said this was hard for me, but what it came down to was this,
Which heroes would I miss more in my green decks? I concluded that I would miss Hur a lot more than I would miss Micah. Hur makes for the main engine in my decks, and while yes I would miss recurring two bears, losing the main force I have for drawing would be a significantly harder to bear.
-
I initially voted for Micah because I've always thought of Hur as being a bit overrated with the little support he usually has, and the fact that DoN can often thwart his main usefulness. But then I realized what Pol was talking about with the huge draws even with no Gifts AND even with an opponent's RBD up, and I realized my mistake. Hur should win.

OK, so now I'm really curious...

I've played Pol enough to know one of his favorite evil characters. He is one of three cards including Hur needed for the combo I (and I assume Pol) is thinking of. He can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm not. Needless to say, it's brilliant.
-
We're on the same page. It's pretty easy to figure out once you know it involves a EC and some other cards, but it's more fun to no just give it away :D
-
and now i want to know that combo..
-
Isn't the combo over a year old? :\
-
How long a combo has been possible has no bearing on its level of general knowledge.
-
Uh yes...yes, it generally does. ::)

In theory yes, in practice not necessarily. Obviously. I mean, look at this thread. There are at least two people that apparently don't know the combo, one of whom is one of the most successful online players.
-
2 people out of the whole community. You've convinced me.
-
Even one player who hangs out at the top table of ROOT consistently is plenty of proof that it's not common knowledge regardless of how old it is.
-
If I'm thinking of the right combo, you could have done it at least 6 years ago...
-
I'm really interested in what this combo is now. :P

The credentials of a player in ROOT really has no connection whatsoever to a combo that has been around forever, thus likely people would know about it.
-
Yet people don't seem to know about it, do they?
-
If I'm thinking of the right combo, you could have done it at least 6 years ago...
Nope. Pol's combo didn't exist until August 2010.

Quiet. The more people that don't know it, the more people there are to pressure those who do into telling.

 I just realized what the third card was. I was thinking it wasn't great, but yeah, it's a pretty sweet combo.
-
It could still be used to good effect before 2010 if, I dunno, you had an empty hand.

Just got an idea. You could easily win your case if you told all of us ;-)

Thanks for the compliments Pol, but unfortunately I can't be your poster child for not knowing this combo. I actually figured it out right after Prof A's response to my previous post on this thread.
That is pretty nice actually as long as you're set up. My guess though is that you only pull it off about 20% of games.

You still work as a poster child because you didn't know about it until just now, and MKC is trying to make it out that everyone knows about it just because it's been possible for a while.
When I use that deck I get it off more like 35% of games, but when I do get it set up I always win, and I usually get to use it multiple times.
-
With the tidbits of info that people have said, I think I have an idea how to do it with 3 cards. Not sure if it's what you guys are talking about, though.
-
I didn't say everyone. I said it's likely the combo would be common knowledge because its old.
-
Tempted to state the combo.
But I'll just go ahead and say that I voted for Hur.

PM me? nobody would ever know you ratted it out.
-
I voted for Micah, even after realizing the complete combo. I had to figure out the control element.
-
Haha, I love all this buildup over such a simple combo. When you do figure it out/hear it you'll be all "oh, was that all?"
-
I didn't think it was that awesome because at first I was like, well, your opponent pretty much has to be an idiot. Then I was like oh, that's cool, but not groundbreaking.
-
I voted for Hur based on his hand neutralizing ability. If your opponent has all the cards they need to win in hand and you attack with Hur your opponent will most likely be set back. I can't think of many other heroes I don't want to attack me when I have my hand set to win.

I voted for Micah for two reasons:
1) Getting cards back is always nice to me.
2) Hur's SA has actually cost me more games than it has won (never use him in late game).
-
1.) Have Naz in territory
2.) Block RA with King Rehoboam
3.) Choose Hur as their hero
You get to D7, because Naz is protecting your hand from Hur's shuffle ability.

I was actually just about to pm someone who knew the combo to see if this was it, because I had just figured it out, but I see that's no longer necessary.

I figured it out on a 4 mile run this afternoon. Exercise is good for clearing of the head. :)
I also figured out another way to do it, but it takes one more card.
Nazareth. Stalks of Flax send Hur. Block with Complainers. Choose Hur.
With Complainers and Stalks of Flax added to your deck that already contains King Rehoboam, Hur, and Nazareth, you might be able to pull of the combo a little more often. Maybe.
