The Entrapping Pharisees can win battles with his SA, while Sabbath Breaker kills himself. Entrapping Pharisees all the way!

How is a one block EC without an autoblock SA winning this?

drawing extra cards out of the ordinary has been the most powerful ability since the beginning, thats why.

Plus he gets initiative.

Entrapping Pharisee doesn't need initiative.  He just captures you automatically.  He doesn't even have to use an enhancement to do it.  And his 7/7 is a nice number to add into a huge Pharisees band.

He gives away initiative. He's by far the weakest of the Pharisees.

not to mention his ability is easily negated. it essentially turns any matching color card in your hand into a negate.

And Sabbath Breaker's ability is not easily negated?  Entrapping Pharisee has helped me dismantle a LOT of COTH banding chains, where those players do NOT have a matching color card to play.  When you consider that Sabbath Breaker took 1 card in your deck, and then lets you draw 3, it's really only netting you 2 cards.  If you play Torment on him he's netting you 5 cards, which is much better.  But like others I am shocked that Sabbath Breaker is doing so well in this contest.  I fear that some are voting as if the last 2 sets did not come out, for some reason.

Actually he still only nets you 4 because you have to subtract Torment.

Entrapping is CBN, so idk why everyone is talking about negating it.

Not negating, insteading, though in this instance it's virtually the same thing.

They mean "insteading" it.

And I agree with the vote. Entrapping is not usually a guaranteed block. It's generally foolish to make a RA when you don't even have any good enhancements to play.

5x sabbath breaker and 5x washing hands is incredibly useful in T2. Use the draw to ensure you have something to discard for washing hands, then just let SB die by numbers.

Yes, but then they had to waste that matching brigade card in their hand negating something that cost me nothing, and they have 1 less card to actually win the battle.

Thats a good point. Cards like this have always presented a problem to me. Trying to attack, you go into battle with only one enhancement. Oops, now I have to discard my only enhancement or just get captured. Its awesome, like Antiochus.

Except Antiochus can let them discard a card of matching brigade from hand or teritory.

I usually discard a character and then get it back with CoF.

How can this still be a tie?

Honestly, this being this close is pretty shocking. Let's point out all the things that TEP can do in a territory:

Honestly, this being this close is pretty shocking. Let's point out all the things that TEP can do in a territory:

  • The other player doesn't make an RA because they don't have more than one enhancement to play. No RAs = Good.
  • Opponent makes an RA, TEP captures.
    • Opponent makes an RA, and discards an enhancement. Their offense is now one card weaker.
And if you capture them you can also put them in Raider's Camp for even more blocks.[/list]
