Vote now!
WINNER: Goliath (Promo)
-
Goliath will win, but I still think Proud Pharisee is the better character (as was Uzzah). PP has a lot going for him, including a play first ability, which makes for some great combos, especially with use with Gomer and Scribe. He's been proven to be a very strong character, and, in my opinion, will be better than Goliath even after Goliath has proved his mettle.
-
I've stuck with the hero this whole time, and I'm not changing just because some giant who's never even done battle looks tough.
-
Oh common guys this is ridiculous. Goliath is the better evil character, A because his ability is better B can be easily reccurred (easier that going through market place) and C because he is good in type one and type two. PP is really only dominant in type two.
D has great potential to be good against thaddeus, pp doesn't.
Your off the SQF if pp wins.
-
Actually, Proud Pharisee is so much better in both t1 and t2 beings, you know, you can use him in a deck. And Goliath is the Rani.
-

You're a president, which means you don't have absolute power. I have served you faithfully. You have no right. If PP wins and you try to kick me off, I'm going to take as many members as I can with me. And those 10(ish) Ques from southern Minnesota will stay in southern Minnesota.
Besides, PP is better with SWS, and SWS is the best, so PP is better. I will never get over the awesomeness of SWS + Gomer + Pharisees (band in all three of my opponent's defenses, including PP) + Gib's Trick/Plot. I won't be attacked all game. However, Goliath will be laughed at (especially since nobody uses Phillies in T2 Multi).

big G should never have beaten uzzah. Big G is almost overrated. Remember Peter's Curse? That was hyped up the wazoo. Same as GOH. And both of those are used in 5% of decks.(5% is a guesstimate)
-
Gates of Hell is WAY underrated. It's in the top 5 most fun cards in the game. Goliath is not too overrated, but it's a bit overrated. Uzzah shouldn't have beat Gomer, and shouldn't have been beaten by Goliath, and PP definitely shouldn't lose to Goliath.

I never thought Peter's curse was good. I've always thought Goliath is good.

First off, I'd like to say that while Goliath is officially untested, he is unofficially really, really powerful. He is a game changer to be sure. He can taunt, which might be nice, and he negates banding, which is also cool, but his true strength lies in the return ability. He basically forces your opponent to either have two viable options to attack with, or play Red (*snicker* *snicker*).
Secondly, I'd like to also say that Proud Pharisee is an awesome EC, and definitely deserves to be here. But I have to agree with Hobbit that Goliath will see widespread use in T1 and T2 in a variety of decks, while Proud Pharisee will see a lot of action in T2 decks and some in T1 decks. The mere fact that Goliath will be legal at Nationals could seriously make people consider putting David in their Prophets decks or even playing Red. He will have a much larger impact on the game than Proud Pharisee has had.
-
just so long as King David can bypass him as well...I have no problem tossing him back in as a non disciple standalone...

How many Philly decks have you seen in T2 this year? How many Pharisee decks have you seen in T2 this year? I'm guessing Pharisees will be more than Phillies.
How many Philly decks have you seen in T1 this year? How many Pharisee decks have you seen in T1 this year? I'm guessing it's about even, but Phillies have the edge (largely because of Nazzy and immunity being lame).
Actually, I plan on using Goliath at nats, but not Proud Pharisee, so why am I voting for PP?

It's not a question of how many Philly decks I have seen in T2, it's a question of how many I will see after the first few Regional tournaments this summer. My guess is that it will be a lot. Basically, it comes down to the fact that he will own TGT ladies, which depend on select few Heroes and have almost all negatable enhancements. He will own Disciples until your opponent can get seven Disciples out and Crown of Thorns active. Which means the two most popular T2 offenses of this year will have to adapt based on that one card. That's power.
-
Goliath is not an Uber card, he's anti-meta. Big difference. PP will always be amazing no matter how the wind is blowing (unless everyone decides to go back to FbtNB all at once, and that hurts Goliath too), and will only continue to get better as more Grey Enhancements are printed. Goliath's power is pretty much capped since he'll almost never get to play an Enhancement, and really only threatens White and Purple. He looks good this year since White and Purple are running the show, but in years to come he will diminish while PP will always remain a champion.
-
Luckily this vote is for the best EC this year, not forever.
-

True that. He looks amazing in my binder!
-

How does FbtNB even hurt Goliath at all ???
My question as well.
What does a typical captain band have against a 18/30 dude who kicks their entire band out of battle?
-
And, again, Goliath as the potential to be immune to purple (CBN). That's so incredible in virtually ever meta the game has seen in the last 3ish years.
-
Only an awful FbtNB player will attack with his entire band every time. Besides that, FbtNB ought to have David's Mighty Men and David's Victory, both of which murder Goliath. It's not wasting an Enhancement if you win the battle...
-
If a FBTN deck goes in with a single hero, then you simply use someone like Garrison... or just CM Asahel.
-
Goliath, remember? Start out with your big band and if Goliath blocks, go in with a Red guy or two. You've got Heldai, Abishai, and Asahel at your disposal, just don't use all 3 in your initial band.
-
So, its not FBTN that hurts Goliath, its just red WC.
-
Which is in FbtNB. Remember, we're talking about whether the strategy that would hurt PP would also hurt Goliath, thus making it moot.
-
Still, Goliath does a much better job against FBTN than PP does.
-
Except for Balaam's Disobedience.

Goliath eats FbtNB. He's CBN negate banding. (except with only ten fingers)

Did you not read Pol's earlier post? Red is in FbtNB, Red kills Phillies, thus FbtNB DECKS kill Phillies.

I didn't get that from his post at all.
