I haven't played since Nationals 2008 - what should I know about how the game has changed? Will using my same old deck still do alright or will I get cruuuushed?

The Garden Tomb.

You will probably get crushed, unless you are somehow able to block without using any evil characters. You need to have some counters to TGT and territory destruction and stuff. Grey isn't very good at that, except maybe with Romans Destroy Jerusalem, which you very well might never be able to play unless you have side battles.
Now that I think of it, that might be a good idea. Just tack RDJ and Cup of Wrath onto your deck, and adjust accordingly.
Also, you need Asher for sure, and probably emperor vitellius and Terrifying Beast.

Wonderful. The Garden Tomb, one of the reasons I stopped playing, is still uber-dominant. Why bother adding The Terrifying Beast if its orange half keeps stopping it from entering battle? Aso, what brigades are most popular for territory destruction in TGT decks, white?

White, Teal, Green, Purple, and Gold are common in TGT decks.

Yep. There are cards that counter it, but they are few and far between, and the ones we have at the moment are crap. The next set should change that quite a bit. You could probably just put Golgotha (http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/red_game_articles_disciples-2.php) and/or Peter's Curse (http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/red_game_articles_disciples-3.php) in your deck (and maybe some territory protection), and you will be fine, but until then, expect much TGT.

I think decks will be tweaked a bit with the new cards come'n out very soon. Might as well jump in after those.

Knowing that deck as well as anyone besides you, I think you will do fine. You know that deck very well and it is very good. You will be fine. The meta hasn't changed that much other than adding territory destruction as an archetype and replacing speed decks with speedtomb decks. Same basic principles though. You should be fine.

Decks are going to be destroyed and rebuilt with the new set.
