What cards are good against CotH after its in play? I'm mainly looking for cards in the black and crimson brigade.
-
If you have a lot of problems with him, try HoH.
-
Take it from someone who has played with Captain In a deck sence I started playing in 2004. the best and I mean the absolute best thing for stopping captain is Phillisteen armour bearer and 12 fingered giant with goliaths spear on eaither. Seriously, I use it myself "when I use defense" and it works 99% of the time. I would also use asherah pole cause crimson/ black has no shortage of killer cards. "edit...add torment u might also want to add the 0/6 crimson curse that allows you to capture a hero if a warrior class ec is in battle and/or unholy writ/ unknown nations as they are all very useful against many different things, which is what you want to have in a deck versatility...edit"

Unholy Writ doesn't work against Captain of the Host.
I recommend the Artifact Pile. Golden Calf, Holy of Holies, Ashera Pole, Confusion of Mind, and Household Idols each can help versus Captain of the Host.
-
Prince of the Air. ;D Unless it's the king's version... in which case household idols and Philistine Garrison.
-
yea i know unholy writ doesnt stop captain, but if ur losing to A 10/10 Captain of the host by himself the defense needs to be rehauled. unholy writ allows him to capture one of the people banded with captain which, if chosen wisely, is usualy enough. I personaly like confusion of the mind totaly forgot about that one.

go in with 12fg and play bringing fear. So awesome

Hey,

Good against Captain of the Host by himself, or good against Captain of the Host in a banding chain? By himself, Ishbibenob banded to Goliath would be extremely effective (given your specified brigades).

Black has a lot of great cards that go well vs. Captain. As mentioned, the Philistines are great, especially with Bringing Fear. You play that, and you stop any banding that brought Captain in, or if it's just vs. Captain, then you stop his BTN ability allowing you to use your other enhancements. Intent to Kill is another nice black battle winner that can take care of Captain nicely, since it can't be prevented. As mentioned, TFG upsets a banding chain, and can often defeat a Captain by himself, unless your opponent has a silver offense.
Other than that, a Sadducees defense can also be very effective, and can go one of two ways: first, you can counter a Captain banding chain with a banding chain of one or more of the 1/3 guys who can bring in the high-numbered High Priests (Annas, Caiaphas, Ananias), or if you're sneaky, you can use just two of the 1/3 Sadd's (two to avoid AotL), and play High Priests Plot to potentially get their SoG, assuming you have Judas (who is Crimson).
Crimson's best defense against CoTH is probably Nergalsharezer, whose enhancements are CBN if another Bab is in play. Also, Leviathan works well against BTN guys, and you can even use Fallen Angel (Warriors) to band to him against Captain to get a quick 18/20 banding chain.
Hope that helps!

I don't know how either of those would work against the kings version!! (which is the one I'm refering to) :-\
-
HHI would prevent them from banding CotH in, but not from him by himself.
-
Antiochus can target Cap for discard.
-
OMGoodness! I was completely reading the card wrong! :-[ :-[ :-[ :P :o For some odd reason I thought that it (the SA) also applied to characters!!!!!!!!!! :-[ Ok so now I get why Philistine Garrison would own! So, basically any negate SA or immune to type character would be good against CotH!?
-
The SA does apply to characters, but not weapon-class ones.
-
Then according to REG philistine garrison does nothing!
Type: Evil Char. • Brigade: Black • Ability: 12 / 8 • Class: • Special Ability: Immune to lone Heroes. • Attributes: Generic, Philistine, Fought Earthly Battle • Identifiers: Generic OT Male Human, Philistia, Fought Earthly Battle •
Its not weapon class!
-
If you click on the "Thesaurus ex Preteritus" link in the Garrison entry, it'll show you a pic of the card, and it is indeed Warrior-class. The entry just is missing it, most likely due to an entry error when it was being compiled.
-
The Kings CotH would Negate Garrison as it is Warrior-Class, not Weapon-Class.

Ah, you are correct. I misread Captain :P

Wait seriously? So Captain negates himself? Or is there an errata? Or does he just say "except this ability?"

REG:
Play As: Negate all special abilities on characters and enhancements (except banding, weapons, and Captain’s special abilities).
