Reserve access balanced between Testaments?
« on: April 09, 2020, 02:30:45 AM »

Hi there,

maybe I am wrong, but when going through the cards for me it feels O.T. cards (maybe even more good O.T. cards) have much more possibilities to be taken from Reserve than N.T. cards.

Am I wrong here? If not - is this intended and if so why?

Thank you for a short reply!

Bye

The Reserve became a thing in Redemption alongside the release of RoJ, a mainly NT set. Since then the sets have been Fall of Man, Prophecies of Christ, and now Lineage of Christ which are all primarily OT sets. So it mostly just comes down to the balance between testaments of the sets. I think it's reasonable to assume the next set will be mainly NT again so it should start to balance out a little more.

This is also what I would assume...

Since there are also cards which do things like "topdeck a good XYZ from reserve" or similar I just wondered whether balance was intended to be created by those cards.

I think the development team just got more creative with their Reserve access abilities as they got more familiar with how it plays out in Redemption. Cards that just simply "take" cards from Reserve are pretty strong, so more cards that "topdeck (or take if ____)" we see are becoming more common. Abilities that only topdeck generally aren't that strong. It slows your deck down slightly and might get shuffled before you get to draw it, so that's why most abilities that only topdeck are star abilities, which so far have almost exclusively been O.T.

We have been slowly expanding the way we use the Reserve with each new set. This was part of an intentional plan that we put in place when we created the Reserve during RoJ. Expect us to continue to use the Reserve in new ways in the 2021 N.T. set “The Gospel of Christ”.

P=16, L=12, G=7.

So it went down by 4 and then 5 so it will probably go down by 6, which gives us 1=A.

Authority of Christ. Er, wait a second...  :scratch:

Thank you Gabe!  :D  :thumbup:
Really looking forward to this - while in fact I definitely prefer and like more all the O.T. things. But maybe the new set will make that chaning?
Would be awesome if the new N.T. stuff would be in a manner which allows for having O.T. and N.T. (and even more mixed) decks being competitive at eye height meaning to be equal to each other!
