I feel kinda stupid when I ask questions like this, but here goes.

Can I play a Destruction of Nehushtan on Lampstand of the Sanctuary, or is it protected from the card's effect?

You cannot bc DoN says discard. Then after the discard it negates. If it said negate and then discard you could play it on Lampstand

You cannot, though it's actually because of the way Destruction is worded. Normally negate trumps protect. However, since DoN says "Discard an active artifact. Artifact's ability is negated." you need to be able to discard Lampstand before you negate it. Since it's still protected when you try to discard it, it cannot be discarded in order to be negated.

If DoN said "Negate and discard an artifact" then it could indeed discard Lampstand.

Hope that clears things up.

So theoretically, in a multiplayer game, could two people use DoN on the same Lampstand to get rid of it? First person plays DoN, it negates (which lasts the rest of the phase), the second plays their DoN to discard?
ANB is good. Change my mind.

I believe this is correct so long as both DoN are played in the same phase and both target Lampstand.

No. DoN can only negate an Artifact that it discards. If the discard doesn't happen, then neither does the negate.

If DoN were printed today, it would almost certainly have the more standard "Negate and discard" language, but unless it gets Errata'd, it will never be able to target an active Lamsptand (without something else stopping Lampstand's protection of course).

To further elaborate, if DoN were reprinted and they updated the wording while keeping the effect of the ability exactly the same, it would say "Discard an artifact to negate that artifact."

And once my Play As/Errata update project is complete, then that will ideally be the exact play as of DoN, as that is exactly how it should be played now.

I know Lampstand of the Sanctuary no longer protects cards in hand, but what about set aside?

Wondering about Shipwreck targeting a set aside fortress when Lampstand is active.

Quote from: The REG
Not in Battle
Several Redemption® cards contain special abilities that refer to cards that are “not in battle”. Cards "not in battle" are cards found in (1) territories, (2) set aside areas, and (3) Lands of Redemption.

Lampstand would protect set-aside fortresses from Shipwreck as well.
