I deleted the original post due to messiness, but anyway, I have noticed that Bryon has already begun to gradually leak info on the upcoming Redemption set. Here's a bit of the info I have gathered so far:
Some top secret info about the 2010 Redemption expansion set:
It contains over 100 cards, but fewer than 120.
Already on the list are some powerful counters to pre-block ignore.
The battle winners in this set will be interrupt-able. :)
I just reread the list to be sure, and I counted a grand total of 0 cannot be negated battle winners. A few "cannot be prevented"s and some non-battle-winner cannot be negated enhancements ...
On closer inspection, there are a few currently on the list that ... have cannot be negated status if opponent has a certain type of card in battle/play. But cards like that rely on your OPPONENT to become cannot be negated ...
The next set will include cards of every brigade, but will NOT include cards for every theme or culture.
I'm looking at 3 cards on the list that will likely cause Ithamar to see more play next year ...
By this time next year, Egypt users won't be fearing JtE quite so much.
If you want to attack Gates of Hell, there are ways to do so without a dominant. You will see at least 3 in the next set.
I'm looking at the three cards now:
1) a card that can discard evil card(s) from bottom of opponent's deck
2) a card that can negate GoH (and other cards) for one phase
3) a "if used by a ___" card that can discard GoH (or another evil card). This will be the first card that can actually discard GoH, since GoH is set aside. Before that, ANB was the only option.
The first card isn't really that powerful, and will likely be used for deck-shrinking. If you know your opponent has that card, you can use GoH before your opponent uses that card.
The second card will be used, but if you know your opponent has that card, you can just use GoH in a different phase.
The third card will be hard on GoH when it is played, but it can only be used by certain characters, and requires initiative.
I shy away from dominants, since many become deck staples and can limit creativity.
Maybe we need to make a fortress that lets you do something every time an opponent plays a dominant. Hmmm...
In my opinion, red and purple are the brigades that should have the vast majority of good weapons. The evil weapons will be in every color but orange.
... I wanted to see players rip through their entire dek after they got what they needed.
Oh yeah. I forgot to mention the card that will make THAT strategy a little more dangerous. :)
I'm looking at a blue TC enhancement on the list that is usable by any human hero except a priest (not much of a restriction). Its main restriction is a three turn limit to its effect.
The theme-haters I think will like this.
The card I was talking about is gone now, but there is still a GREAT T-class enhancement for blue, that does not require Genesis.
... you have to decide between pure Green, Green/Teal, or Green/TGT. If you go pure Green, you typically have to decide between Jeremiah abuse, Habbakuk/IaP territory abuse, traditional balanced, or Micah/Two Bears abuse.
And in the next set, one of those subthemes gets more help, and a whole new green prophets subtheme debuts.

Continued...
I am going through the list and GREATLY reducing the number of search and shuffle abilities. Search abilities are, for the most part, being replaced by abilities like Susana's. Shuffle abilities are being replaced by "return to top (or bottom) of deck."
So far, we've only kept two search abilities intact. One searches for a certain unique character, and one for a certain fortress.
Speed will get hurt in the next set. There are at least 3 cards that will make players think twice before building a deck involving lots of draw abilities.
Hand discard is fairly strong already. It'll get a little help, most likely, in the next set. But deck discard is not nearly as strong yet. It will likely get the more powerful new cards.
i think what we need are more new themes for each brigade, not just one exclusively. some already have them, but some also glaringly dont.
This is the way we are going, especially for the themes that are small. Angels, Priests, Prophets, Genesis, Military, and Demons have more than enough characters and art to supply those brigades for a long, long time. In those brigades, expect some references to things like O.T. or N.T. prophets; O.T. warrior class red or N.T. warrior class red; Warrior class Angels or Prophet Angels; Priests based on Tabernacle, Solomon's Temple, Z's Temple, Herod's Temple; Female Genesis heroes, sons of Jacob, etc.
As for themes, expect them to continue, character-wise. However, expect at least half the new enhancements to be usable by "non-theme" characters.
Also, expect a couple new themes this year. :)
Booster Draft Championship $20 fee
Standard ROA or FOOF tin plus a Disciples box expansion.
...
All cards in the Redemption universe are legal for play at all Nationals 2010 events EXCEPT any Custom Created cards, any Disciples expansion cards or New Nationals promo card.
If anyone else finds anything leaked by Bryon or another authority, please post it here. :)

There will be starters in 2011.
There will be more cards putting a hurtin' on demons.
For proof of this, check out Da Music Maker's complaint thread.

Bryon didn't say there will be starters in 2011. Just that there is a good chance of that.

Thanks for clearing that up. :)

A new mystery artifact...
Um. Yes, it is broken. It doesn't require a single character or enhancement and you get to destroy half a typical defense. Further, you can combo the mystery artifact with I Am Patience for even more (unlimited) territory decimation.
The "Yes, it is broken," is referring to comboing the new artifact with Holy Grail.
That means the new mystery artifact cannot be activated anywhere outside the artifact pile.

Here's a minor spoiler: expect everyone to be playing a deck with one hero (no joke lol)
something needs to be done about that certain character playtesters : -P
-
Quite of few decks these days already play 4 or less (I have two decks that fit this catergory). That wouldn't be a huge change. ;)
-
Yeah, but, this one...I'd be surprised and disappointed if this came out the way I've seen it.
-
I do know it will be booster packs!!!! yay! ;D :D ;D :D ;D :D

Are you sure about this? Who said this and where?
-
You'd best be careful mate ;) The last person who started a spoiler thread got beheaded by Byron. Why do you think we never see Gil Galad on anymore?
:) Totally Joking of course.

He's still alive, and still has his head. He only can't spoil cards online because he's missing his fingers. :)

Seriously though, I wish I knew enough about the set that I wouldn't even want spoilers...

I'm sure this has been noticed and just isn't on this thread, but the Gauntlet Games site says the new set is called the "Disciples Expansion" (http://www.ggamestore.com/games/index.php?main_page=page&id=15 (http://www.ggamestore.com/games/index.php?main_page=page&id=15)).
-
Nice find, Tim.
-
i said this in the 2010 nats announcement page about the name of the expansion.

Ah, yes. Thanks for reminding me. A quote has been added to the list. :)

the set is bigger than 100 but smaller than 120.(my guess is 110)

How do you know it's smaller than 120? My guess would be that it is exactly 120 (or possibly 180), since it is likely that Cactus is using the same card sheet layout that they did last year. However, that 120 may include Promos, so if you don't count those I suppose the set might be 110ish.

i saw this on bryon's website.

Okay, seriously, what is this? I've heard of this before, but I don't know where to find it. Could someone post a link?
-
www.redemptionca.com (http://www.redemptionca.com) it's on the news page.
-
Gauntlet games refers to a Disciples "box" expansion, so it may be like TexP. Between 100-120 cards? If we assume they're using the 100-card sheets again, and assume we get 10 new promos, what are the options?
If 120: 480 cards + 20 promos (2 rows) = 500 cards = 5 sheets
...more when I have time to do the math. :)

Oh yeah, I think I knew that.
Slight update.
-
So no news on the Disciples expansion in April? By mid-May last year, we knew quite a lot about the Thesaurus set! ;)
-
Darth vader finds ur lack of spoilers disturbing
-
Not sure this is much of a spoiler but it's news:
Uploaded the new Redemption card set, The Disciples, to our printer's FTP site this week. Glad to have that project in the can. Thanks to all the playtesters for your help. Now to get our next game (another Hasbro licensed game) finished by the end of May.
-
interesting!
-
probably already said
but there will be Four cards per pack instead of two
(Thank goodness)
-
So do we know the distribution method? 4 cards per pack makes it seem that the idea it's like Thesaurus is probably correct. Any knowledge on what other sets will be included or how many total cards per "pack"? Will all cards in this set be the same rarity again? Any idea what retail price will be for the "packs"?
-
I would guess 5 again. Probably the same number of cards in a box. just less old cards.
-
I hope Disciples will cost the same as TxP, but that likely would mean that the packs have fewer of the old cards, which is okay if the dumb unlimited/prophets go, although if anything goes it will probably be some of the Pats and Apostles.
-
Darth vader finds ur lack of spoilers disturbing
There are rarely any spoilers before the cards go to the printer's, as abilities are being changed continually during playtesting. Not that the cards have gone to the printers, they'll start popping up, I'm sure.

Only Sith deal in absolutes :maul:

I'm not sure if this is considered a spoiler, but Bryon said "SPOILER ALERT" before saying it, so I'll put it here at least.
In The Disciples, we are shortening "(This) Hero is immune to demons." to the shorter "Immune to demons" (like the recent ECs who got "Immune to lone heroes.")
Similarly, the characters with first strike just say "First strike." rather than "This character has first strike."
Also, characters that protect only themselves from some effect say "Protected from capture." rather than "Protect this character from capture."
We like to shorten/streamline wording, as long as it remains perfectly clear who gets the effect.
I think this is a good thing. It makes both reading and seeing a little easier.
-
Any new information? I now the first article is coming out June 17th, but do we know when other information is coming about how we'll be getting the cards?
-
Everything that I have seen publicly released I have put here. I don't think there's much more out there, but kudos if you find it. :)

Similar to Thesaurus. Boxes containing 15 cards: 4 new (all the same rarity, NOT foil), plus 11 cards from older sets (Apostles, Patriarchs, and one other set). Retail should be the same as Thesaurus.

ugh...here we go again...

Hmmmm, I wonder what new game is coming out? ???

Hey I found this on the redemption.com websiteNew for 2010 - Bible Taboo
Cactus is pleased to announce that we are publishing another Hasbro family favorite in a Christian version, Bible Taboo.
An obvious clue could be strictly TABOO!
To get your team to say MOSES would you say, PRINCE, EGYPT, PLAGUES, PHAROAH, or COMMANDMENT? In this game you can't because all of those words are strictly TABOO!
Rattle off clues while the time counts down. You'll earn a point each time your team guesses correctly. But watch what you say! If your opponents hear a TABOO word, you'll get buzzed and they'll get the point!
For 4 or more players in two teams. Ages 10 to Adult.
$27.50 retail price. Available Oct 15, 2010.
