Title: obedience of noah Q
Post by: Cpt.Jaeger on October 10, 2010, 09:47:47 PM
you RA with mary magdalene (with TGT in play), you opponent blocks with saph. the only other ECs in play are shadow and kot (both are your opponent's). can you play obedience of noah and select kot to block. result... kot is ignored and mary magdalene successfully rescues.

does that work?

Ignored EC's cannot block.

This is a really interesting question though, as I'm fairly sure that a CTB ability also forces the current blocker to withdraw.

the REG is silent on CTB

First of all, King of Tyrus would negate Obedience of Noah and Mary Magdalene's Immunity, and kick himself out of battle, leaving a FBTN battle between Mary Magdalene and Saph.

Second, SomeKittens is correct that you cannot intentionally bring an ignored character into battle.

IIRC, it only forces the current blockers to withdraw if there is a legal target not currently in battle to block. So in the case described, Mary could choose either Saph or Shadow, but not KoT, who is ignored.

I see, that's a bummer. i was hoping it would serve as a convenient little battle winner   ::)

There are dozens of combos that you can make with CtB cards; you shouldn't be too disappointed. OoN is still one of the more powerful enhancements in the game.

What does IIRC mean?

You can use Claudia + ET + OoN and then choose one of your 1/1 guys to block with.

If I remember correctly.

You can also use Jake + OoN and choose one of your 1/1 guys. You can't use Jake + OoN and choose a guy with Philly Horses and hope they draw a soul so you can rescue >:c.

I thought CTB was CBI? or is that just for characters that have CTB abilities?

Pre-block CtB is CBI. However, if a CtB card withdraws a character to choose another one, then it is interruptable. So Jacob+OoN can choose KoT and KoT stays. In this case, however, OoN is interruptable.

Is anything pre-block CBI?

No. The only pre-block things that are CBI are anything that says it's CBI, and CtB. Things like drawing (ET+Reach) and territory destruction (Jephthah) can be interrupted. It was decided that pre-block CtB should be CBI so we don't have someone using Ehud, having a battle ensue, and somewhere along the line Ehud's CtB ability was negated which would effectively undo the entire battle. Stuff like that gets confusing.
