I know it's kind of early to be thinking about this, but...does anyone have any info on the next set that's coming out - names, themes, anything?
-
Kind of Early?
Try way way too early.
-
Everyone knows that when someone says "kind of," they mean "really." ::)
-
New starter set.
You know this for sure?
-
That's what Bryon told me. :o
-
...How long has it been since they made a booster set? I've kind of been itching for one for the last...two/three years...although tins and starter decks do let me catch up on my collecting. :-\
-
That's what Bryon told me. :o
Bryon also said there was going to be a Veggietales expansion a couple years back...
Since Cactus seems to like the smaller sets/tins in terms of the wacky economy, a starter would fit that concept. Besides, didn't the last starters release just after Kings? It's getting about time for new starters.
-
1. This needs to me moved to Card Play
2. Its going to be a starter, I heard that at natz
-
3. And its WAAAYYYY too early for info on that. Heck, its been a month since roa came out at natz.
-
1. I was trying to figure out where to put it, and this seemed like the best place. :-\
2. I've already heard that it's a starter.
3. I already know it's too early; I said that in the post.
-

Why? This is the Redemption Market lol
You SELL AND BUY AND TRADE here
-
We are discussing what will be...sold...eventually....It was, like, ten o'clock at night; I was tired, okay. :-[
-
lol

the last starter was 10th anniversary edition and that was 4 years ago between Angel Wars and Priests
I want a booster set especially as both Kings and Patriarchs are running out of stock
-
Since the front page for Redemption at Cactus Game Design says, "10th Anniversary Collector Tins
Sold out!" I would bet money that the next release of new cards is going to be a starter set. Anybody want to take the bet? $5? $10?

Hey, if they make a new starter, do you think they might make a new gift set using Nicholas of Antioch? I haven't been able to find that card anywhere...ever.
-
More sets???????? man i'm just getting used to the others and there making more??? *faints*
-
Remeber every that Rob said they were PLANNING not MAKING a new starter back when nats was still going on.

Each year after nationals play testers are hammering and working on the new set/deck/tins/cheese wedge/companion cube/etc. We get one per year, so there is plenty of adjustment time. Other card games release them every 2-3 months O_o talk about rule changes/no time to adjust.
-
The set this year could be:
a) starters
b) boosters
c) tins
d) nothing
e) something else
I think I can safely say that the Veggie Tales expansion will not be released in 2009. :)
-
*Whew*
-
I've always thought that they should make a magician/sorcerer set...like, at least, a starter deck with magicians as the EC theme, you know.
-
but magicians were spread out culturaly... so it'd be a bunch of diff brigades for a starter.
-
Yeah, but don't they kind of do that anyway? And also, I wish they would go for more of a different strategy in the starter decks, like heroless or something, just to shake it up.
-
I agree that it would be interesting to have a starter set with 2 decks that were very different from each other, rather than just different colors of the same thing.
For instance, one deck could be primarily offensively focused, and the other deck could be primarily defensively focused. This would still make for a fair match-up against each other, but would also allow a couple of new possibilities for players just beginning. It would allow people to choose which style they preferred from the time they first start playing the game. It would also allow a person who bought a starter deck to make a really strong single deck by combining the best of the offense in one deck with the best of the defense in the other :)
-
Yeah!...Now I really hope they do make a starter deck.

I love the idea.
-
another realy cool idea would be a booster with a bunch of enh of david and a ton of diferant davids and/or some diferant musician's and for def it would be realy cool if they did assyrians and/or a buch of grey enh that capture i need a ton of captures right now N.T for my emps but im still gonna keep the cards that go realy good with my emps... i still dont know if i want to do that though cause im thinking conversion.... oh i dont know sorry thinking out loud
You mean cards for your emps like
Deadly snare
Demonic snare
Snare
Hard bondage
sryian victory
?
-
exactly...... but one question how many N.T evil captures are ther? cause i looked yesterday and i found probaly 5 or 7 of them
Look harder.

Rafiki is s-m-r-t.
-
how about instead of starter decks have 4 or 6 or maybe 7 THEME decks........
-
What do you mean?
-
how about instead of starter decks have 4 or 6 or maybe 7 THEME decks........
While this would be very cool I do not think it will happen any time in the next several years. Cactus said that one of the reasons they made RoA 100 cards(promos included) is because they would have been hard pressed to afford a larger set due to how the card printing goes. However, it was also stated that by making a relatively smaller set now that they would more likely be able to make a larger set in the future. That said, I would be very surprised if the next set exceeded 100 cards. That means starter decks are a likely choice since we haven't had new starter in 4 years (counting the 09 season).
Sean
-
Dude, making structure theme decks would be flippin sweet
-

It would be cool but cactus doesn't have the funds at least to my knowledge to do 350+ cards for theme decks.
-
Yeah...maybe another year.
-
Aren't started decks theme decks anyways? G and H Moses and John decks.
It might be interesting to see a type 2 starter deck. Although that would mean 200 cards between the two decks.
-
Or two starters that could somehow be adapted to create a semi-usable Type 2 deck...
-
That may be cool...but it would be difficult and complicated.
-
yah i mean typ 2 hat would be like complicated could you imagine and sience a relgular starter is like $20 or $15 than typ 2 starter would be $40 or $30 so i say just stick with the regulars and plus all you have to do is buy two of the same
Uhm a reg starter is 10 bux.....
-
Yeah, I was just thinking...
-
Issue... One starter could be made into a t2, though not super effective it could. I like the idea of decks that could be combined to make a semi effective t2.
-
I never said it couldn't. Also they could cost less than 20 which if you wanna play t2 thats not much of an issue.
-
I wouldn't mind having two starter decks that can be combined for a T2 deck; it'd be a pretty decent idea if it can be pulled off. Other than that though, I wouldn't want to see any major themes or ideas; the whole point of starter decks is for new players to get a bunch of semi-decent cards cheap, making someone like heroless or offensive/defensive heavy would just be disasterous. Take it from someone who - for the first 2 months of playing Redemption - couldn't build a deck worth jack-squat, it's neccesary to have what would be I and J decks as playable right off the bat. Also, I would kill for a Veggie Tales booster pack.
-
But other games have made Two entirely diffrent starters instead of just one. So there could be Type 2 and Type 1 starters made oooh....
-
...I'm understanding very little of any of this conversation.

Awesome.

-
That made me laugh in real life.
-
You would know, you were the one that put that information there.
Please do not post anything on the Wikipedia page that is not official, confirmed information. We already have an issue of TPTB questioning whether the game is "notable" enough to include in the wikipedia.
-
No, he was talking to me
-
Theme decks wouldn't be that much more expensive if they used older cards along with newer cards to come up with the decks. They could make 100 new cards, 5 decks. 20 new cards per deck, with 30 older cards to fill the decks in and help give them the strategy they need.
-
Nah, theme decks with all-new cards would be cool you can add your own old cards to it
-
All-new cards...That'll never happen.
-
Yes it will, not including reprints
-
That's what I'm saying - reprints.
-
I got an idea...
anyone read/see/know about Ted Dekker Graphic Novels about the Circle of Lost Books?
already has great artwork...a great tie in like Angelwars...and it could even bring about another "Mike" & "Gabe" cards...

I've read most of Black, Red and White (having extra time between rounds when your in a book store has it's advantages=)
-
Like I said ...Ted Dekker's Graphic Novels already have some way cool art work, imo...
Glad to see more of his fans...
To bad Frank Peretti doesn't have Graphic Novels of This Present Darkness, or Piercing The Darknes...
That, imo, would be some cool looking Graphic Novels .
Like my thought was contact the artist for the Graphic Novels and it would be another Comic Book tie in like Archangels & AngleWars.
peace

How well did Angel Wars go over though?
-
How well did Angel Wars go over though?
My students loved the Angel Wars videos and cards.
-
Well, most players I've talked to think it was somewhat of a joke. Jar-Jar Binks almost sued I hear.
The main plroblem I had was all the silver and little else.
-
How well did Angel Wars go over though?
I'm pretty sure, however, that a small part of the Warriors expansion's success was because of the art from the Archangels Saga. Those cards currently have the best art in the game. So Cactus just needs to pick a graphic novel that is well drawn if they decide to do that type of thing again.
-
First off, I don't know if this has pointed out, but isn't Angel Wars only a video series? Perhaps that is the problem.
-
Maybe they'll make a Warriors II expansion ;D
-
Yeah, except with a different name and different cards! :D...Wait....
-
And maybe a new class, err, ability.
-
Tsavong Lah was right "Warriors expansion's success was because of the art from the Archangels Saga"
(aka Comic Book series) Angel Wars was DVD series.
Still a tie-in to an already popular Art form...which lowers cost to aquire the Art, And boots Sales due to a tie-in to another product...that was only point I was trying to make.
and yes I have All the Archangels Saga Comic Books 1-9 & "The Fall" 1-3
and yes I have All the Angel Wars DVD series.
peace
Don
