My name is Aaron. I am 20 years old. Hello all!
I just started magic, my first ccg, with my brother and his friends and my gf about 2 months ago. It was a good way for me and my brother to spend time together and a way for me to meet new people, make new friends, and just be more comfortable with people in general, its actually been really good for me in that way. But a few years ago I found Aaron's Rod in a mcdonalds in california, which was funny becaues my name is aaron. but yeah i decieded to look into Redemption for more of a spiritural influence, I try my best to stay close to God but a lot of times i struggle.
My girlfriend and I bought 3rd edition starter decks from our local Christian Supply, which to my suprise had a big selection of Redemption. Anyway I understand the game and my gf and I have kinda made it through one game.
Heres my delema so far; I got my brother to try it but he does not like it, he even started ranting about how it bugs him christians have to have their own version of things, like music and cards, my gf doesnt mind it but doesnt want to spend money on it, I know nobody else that plays and so far the closest people to me that play are whoever does the tournys in Aumsville, OR, over an hour away :(
So i guess this just means i'll have to learn and play with people on hamachi. So if anybody knows of players in the Gresham/Portland, Oregon area let me know! And if theres any other noobs that want to play on hamachi i just threw a server up,

Welcome to the game, and nice introduction story. I hope your brother can come to learn that Redemption is a great game on its own right, and it's not just an inferior copycat game. As you're a (former?) Magic player, I have no doubt you'll pick up Redemption with no problem once you've played with someone who already knows. Learning from the rulebook can definitely be a tough task in this game.
You should be able to find plenty of willing opponents of all sorts of skill levels in the "Online Play" subforum of Tournaments. If you want, you can even join a completely-for-fun tournament ingeniously titled the "Substitute Online Tournament" there.

Welcome to the Redemption community! As a representative of all things Redemption in the Great Northwest, I'm here if you have any questions, requests, etc. I know my tournaments are even further than Aumsville (I'm in Medford), but I look forward to seeing you at tournaments in the future up in northern Oregon and southern Washington. Your testimony of how you got into the game is awesome! Now I know what to do with all my extra unlimited cards: leave them at fast food restaurants, especially near schools!

Welcome to the boards. It is neat to hear another story of God's plan in motion. I picked up a couple 3rd Edition decks when my local Bible Bookstore went out of business, found the boards, hooked up with STAMP in Medford, drove 3.5 hours to attend Local Tournaments in Medford, then started hosting here in Northern California. This game is worth it. I look forward to meeting you in the future at an Oregon tournament. You have alot of great players in your area.
