Title: Michael + Second Seal vs Twelve Fingered Giant
Post by: burlow on July 20, 2012, 10:09:47 AM: What happens when a can't-be-negated banding card (The Second Seal on Michael or Paul) is played with The Twelve-Fingered Giant in battle (negate banding, can't be negated)?

Also, does TTFG negate gathering of angels (set hero aside for 4 turns, return with ability to band to any hero)?

The 12 FG is negating all banding except the CBN banding is CBN so the 2 nd seal and band hero remain

Jbeers is correct, also Gathering is a gained ability which is CBN as well, so TFG doesn't stop it.

The CBN bands from Michael and Gathering of Angels are not trying to negate the 12-Fingered Giant, therefore the fact that 12FG is CBN is irrelevant to this example. The only thing that matters is that 12FG is trying to negate Michael and Gathering, which he can't.

Post by: burlow on July 20, 2012, 02:11:39 PM: Thanks. The CBN on 12-Fingered Giant was confusing me, when played with CBN banding. It's basically saying that his ability can't be negated, as if played against Ira or captain of the host.

So, does household idols affect gathering of angels? The wording on the artifact makes me think it prevents banding via gathering of angels, but you mention gained abilities CBN.
The "play as" for household idols states "banding of heros is prevented. good banding cards are ignored". So an angel that's been set aside with gathering of angels is now a "good banding card", correct?

Post by: Professoralstad on July 20, 2012, 02:27:09 PM: Correct. HHI works against gathering because of the ignore, not because of the prevent. If you had a way to make a banding hero so that it could not be ignored (for example if you used Gathering on Esther or a converted Persian with Gallows out, or if you put a DAE on Golgotha) then the Gathering band would work.
