Hello everyone. I'm new to this card game and bought myself a ton of cards since I thought it was interesting. I noticed that out of the 560 cards I've obtained that I only gotten 8 Lost souls cards in total.
I was wondering what the chances are of getting lost soul cards because based on what I got it'd only be a 1.43% chance. I find to be extremely low since I learned you need 1 soul for every 7 cards in your deck. This percentage feels like it'd be meant for rare and ultra rare cards.
In case it's important I had bought a card grab box, 5 Patriach booster packs, and gotten a free Priest booster pack.
So was my luck just that bad or is this normal? I find it confusing since I was able to obtain quite a few ultra rare cards, but barely any souls.

I got the 500 card grab box and got 6 booster packs. All were obtained from Cactus website.

Different sets have different number of Lost Souls at different rarities. The best way to get Lost Souls is a starter deck which contains 14. Packs from a set like Cloud of Witnesses have abetter chance to yield a Lost Soul (6/129 with 4 being common and 2 rare) vs Patriarchs which has 0 Lost Souls IIRC.

Most people start with the starter decks and get 14 lost souls off the bat. Getting no ability lost souls out of packs is usually considered a bad thing for this reason, so there are probably less of them in there for that reason.

There were no Lost Soul cards printed in Patriarchs so that's why you didn't get any in those packs. There were a handful of Lost Souls printed in Priests but it was a very large set so getting a Lost Soul in that pack is unlikely (when you only have one).
If you bought the grab bag from Cactus, I believe that is put together from sets that did not have very many Lost Souls which is why you got so few.
So I think it was more just the particular items you purchased that don't have as many Lost Soul cards as some other sets do.
If you're just starting out, I highly recommend purchasing a starter deck set. That will give you two ready to play decks (50 cards each) that contain 7 Lost Souls each.

Oh I see. Sigh, guess I should've done more research. I just assumed there'd be a lot of lost souls in any of the sets since they're needed in all decks. 😬

Well you have enough for 1 deck, but if you need more you could always write "Lost Soul" on some not-so-good cards from the grab bag :) I do it all the time if I only have 1 copy of a card but want to use it in two decks

If you're looking to get a variety of Lost Soul cards with special abilities, I'm sure someone could put together a fairly inexpensive package for you. While there are a couple of Lost Souls from the most recent sets that are much more expensive, a lot of the older ones are still useful and not very expensive.
I could even probably come up with something if you're interested in doing that.

Lol, such a simple yet good idea. Though sadly I can't even tell what's good or bad besides the most obvious ones.
