Title: Interview with Rob Anderson
Post by: Gabe on May 24, 2016, 02:07:04 PM
If Rob Anderson, Redemptions creator and owner of Cactus Game Design, were to grant an interview to Land of Redemption, what are some questions that you would like to have answered?

Did you ever think this game would have such a supportive community?

Has the game gone further than you expected when you started?

What's your favorite set?

What's your favorite card?

Will we one day get a 'Rob Anderson' promo card that is tournament legal?

Have you ever considered an actual Veggie Tales set?

Is there something that you wish the game would have had/ had something go in a different direction?

If you could go back, is there something you would have changed from the start?

Did you know that your game helps a lot of people in many ways?

(there some kick start questions)

I know you've competed in Nationals a few years ago (I didn't get to play you in sealed...:( ), but what is your favorite category?

What made you want to sell games?

If you could compete against any of the current players, who would you want to compete against and why?

Opening question: Do you prefer 'Rob' or 'Mr. Anderson'?

If he wants you to call him mr Anderson, you need to talk like agent smith for the rest of the interview ;D :P

Will there ever be a online version of Redemption? Not Lackey
How did you get people to play Redemption when there are/were so many other card games out there?

Why did you decide to make the game of Redemption?

What is your vision for the future of the game?

I got to play him at the Knoxville Nats years ago. It was my favorite game the whole nats. I got my rear handed to me, 5-1. It was T1 2P. great game. used cards I hadnt seen before, like Seeker of the Lost. ahhhh, memories....

I think most of know the answers to most of these questions (i.e. there weren't many other CCGs back in 1995).

My question:

When it comes to behind the scenes Redemption at Cactus, were Rob's children official paid employees, or were they doing their Anderson family "chores?"  ;)

I also got to play him in nationals but in Knoxville (don't know if its the same national you faced him in) I will say for me it was just so surreal, at the time I couldn't believe I was about to play the creator of the game that I loved to play so much. the fact was making it so hard for me to even think let alone play cause I was trying not to show it, but I really was shaking in excitement cause I was saying to myself "oh my gosh, I am playing the creator of redemption!" the feeling was overwhelming, but I kept my composure and managed to win the game against him, by far my favorite game of redemption I have ever played.

what I wanna know from Mr. Rob Anderson is this; whether it be in tournament, game, or amongst colleagues in the Cactus Game Design company, what is your favorite moment in redemption?

With the passing of L5R, Redemption has outlasted every member of the original class of CCGs save one. My question would be, "So, what is your plan to bring MtG down?"

Back in the day(1999-2000 est),you (Mr Anderson) requested ideas from the players about future cards. My question is: Would you still like us,the players, to give you suggestions on future/updated cards? And should you decide not to choose a card, let us or the Elders the reason why? God bless ya
