I have a large-ish Redemption card collection, but my current organization scheme is very inefficient. Just wondered how others sort their cards. Currently I sort by Brigade, then whether it is a character or enhancement.
I have thought about Sorting by themes, set, alphabetical, or some combination of the above. Can any one help?

I do the same as you and are hoping to find something more efficient :)

I sort by brigade. Once all are separated, I sort characters by highest strength first and I do enhancements the same way. Works for me, but most likely very inefficient. I've often thought of changing it and maybe sorting it by release or something, but that sounds like a lot of working smarter not harder.... o_O :scratch:

See I am trying to come up with a system based on the most efficient way to access cards to build a deck. Normally to build a deck I would think of a theme, look at all the cards for that theme, plus any cards from that brigade that would work well, and then whittle them down until I have my deck. I guess the next question would be how do you plan out your deck?

I mostly started deck ideas on paper then would build and tweak in RTS. Once mostly satisfied, I would build it and take it to tournaments. Been quite awhile since I have played, but there is a good chance I will get another playgroup going and get to playing again. An idea might be to sort by brigade and then alphabetize cards within each brigade.

First I sort them all into types. Then I take each type, and if applicable, sort them into brigades. My brigades are sorted alphabetically (Blue, Dual, Gold, Green, Multi, Purple, Red, Silver, Teal, Tri, White; Black, Brown, Crimson, Dual, Gold, Gray, Multi, Orange, Pale Green, Quad--coming soon!). I then take each brigade and sort them into sets, and alphabetize those (Angel Wars, Apostles, C/D, Disciples, E/F, Faith of Our Fathers (2007), Faith of Our Fathers (2011), G/H, I/J--coming soon!, Kings, Patriarchs, Priests, Promos, Prophets, Rock of Ages (2008), Rock of Ages (2011), Rock of Ages (2013)--coming soon!, Thesaurus ex Preteritus, Un/Limited, Warriors, Women. Finally, I take each set, and alphabetize the card names.
Once that is done, I take out any cards that I have more than 4 of, and put those in my extras box/folder. I then take out any cards that I can never see myself using in a deck, and set them aside in separate card boxes. Then the boxes I take to tournaments/build decks with have just the cards that I would use. Every once in awhile a card makes it from the minor leagues to the big leagues if I find a use in a deck for it. For example, Isaac and Joseph from Patriarchs were recently upgraded for my latest iteration of my Zebulun deck, so I could use Lifting the Curse, Benedictus, and Consider the Lilies; and Goat with Horn (Prophets) was upgraded so I could get Name-on-Name bonus with The Goat with Horn (and in my most recent tournament, I successfully took down a Simeon+AutO-->Moses band using him).
This works well for me, but it requires dedication and a bit OCD. But it helps me be able to put together a T2 deck from a list in ~10 minutes or so.

Your system intrigues me, but the one hang up in it for me would be I don't want to keep extra's of reprints. For example you say you keep 4 of a card and put the rest in extras. Lets use Battle Prayer for example, If I have 3 Warriors BP, and 2 Kings I would prefer to have a system that would allow me to only keep the more useful one so for me I would keep the 3 warriors ones, and only one of the Kings version. I had considered a system like yours in the past, maybe I can find a way to merge them, I like the set sorting because finding the newer cards would be much simpler.

I tried a system in the past along the lines of "deckable" and non but it caused me a lot of problems because I get lost in my own definition of deckable. What makes a card deckable for you?

I just decided to start using the sets as my way to separate the cards this is laborious but with redemption live and the new wiki if I need a card I know right here to go for it

Here's how I do it:
I currently have my cards in three notebooks, and a FooF tin.
All of my good heroes, enhancements, dominants, fortresses, and covenants are in the first notebook.
All of my evil characters, enhancements, dominants, fortresses, and curses are in the second notebook.
All of my neutral enhancements, artifacts, sites, and Lost Souls with abilities are in the third notebook.
All generic lost souls are in the FooF tin.
I sort the cards by brigade and type, with the cards in alphabetical order.
For example, I start with Blue Brigade heroes, then the blue brigade enhancements.
I found this to be the most practical for me for deck building purposes.

I have a binder for each expansion set and I organize them alphabetically. I then leave open spaces in the card sheets for cards that are either in my play deck or that I have yet to add to my collection. I created a Google Doc to track all my cards and this is how I research card info to build decks. Check out the link if you're interested!

You should use Tim's 13ish tier version of sorting his cards. The last point in the tier is "Alphabetically by background color"

I have a precision micro scale that I use to sort all of my cards by weight. Two quick-tips...
- If you are going to do this, you need to ensure your scale has at least 2 micro-gram sensitivity.
- Fingerprint oils, etc. can easily throw off your measurements. To be accurate you should drive off the volatiles by burning a single copy of each card and simply weighing the ash.
My scale can be found here (http://balance.balances.com/scales/783/). Sure it is costly, but if you really care about a hobby, money should be no object.

how I organize I will make this sort and sweet
in order:doms good then bad, arts, covenants same order as heroes and enhancements, curses same thing, multi brigade with just 2 colors go by top color or bottom if so choose, rainbow multi, fortresses good then bad, sites same order of brigades as covs and heroes, lost souls sa'd first then generic.
good brigades:
blue, red, gold, green, silver, purple, white, and teal
evil brigades:
brown, black, grey, crimson, pale green, evil gold, and orange

I have my collection split into 2 sections. The first section is the cards I'm mostly likely to use in a deck (including all Lost Souls, Fortresses, Artifacts, Sites, and Dominants (except old SoG) as well as selections from characters and enhancements) and is sorted first by type and then the characters/enhancements are sorted by brigade. I have these in these boxes with little drawers that are the perfect width for most Redemption cards (similar to this (http://www.amazon.com/Stack-On-DS-22-Drawer-Storage-Cabinet/dp/B000PS9S3M/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1379957414&sr=8-11&keywords=tool+box+drawer)).
The second section is the remainder of my cards which are currently semi-sorted in random boxes.

My cards are organized by Bible verse. It's awesome how many Redemption cards have been made, how vast and diverse the cards are as far as their Bible content, because when you put them all together by verse, it's like reading through the (fully-illustrated) Bible!

I actually put together a deck of cards that specifically tell the whole story of the OT a while back. I always meant to make a YouTube of me using them to tell the story in about 5 mins, but I never got around to it.

That's a great idea! I think it could be a really good way to share the Gospel with others.
