Title: holy grail and chariots of fire question

if an evil character is converted to a hero and that character dies does it die as a hero or an evil character? and if it does die as a hero that means chariots would work and it would get shuffled right?

It dies as a hero, so you could heal it with a card that says heal a hero or activate abilities that refer to heroes being discarded.  But it resets when it hits the discard pile it resets and can't be targetted by Chariot and such
