Hi everyone! I just gave up all my other card games thanks to a book I read about how even Pokemon is demonic. I remembered Redemption and ordered some starter decks. Since I have finals until Friday, I'm gunna start learning how to play Saturday. Any good advice or tips before I start? Thanks for reading!!! ;D

Have a ton of fun playing and try to read up on a character each week in the Bible.

may I ask what the book you read is

It is "Pokemon and Harry Potter" by Phil Arms

No offense to you for believing what you believe in, but why did this book make you quit other card games?

It's like I tell other people, you have to read it to fully understand it. For me, it talked about fantasty games wtih Occultic, Wiccan, New Age, etc. roots, like Pokemon. And how young people get engrossed and it becomes their reality. And how an innocent game such as Pokemon leads to D&D, wicca, and murderous and godless lives. I know that RPG games allow me to lose sight of reality. My feelings and emotions become based on them. RPG was all I thought about. Even in free time. But I thought, there's nothing wrong, it's just fun. Well Phils Arms's book is an eye-opening. That is why I like Redemption, I can be engrossed in it, but it is all based on the Bible, Christianity, and of course, some good old fashioned fun in my eyes ;) And it is a great way to testify. That's just my view. (Man, that's a mouthful. lol) What do you think?

I can somewhat relate. I really enjoy City Of Heroes. When I played it, I could play it for hours and not be tired. However, when I talk about it with someone else who plays it, it was all I could think of to talk about. Even with a very good friend at the time, when I got them into it, all we mainly talked about was the game. Sad but true.
Also, a good thing to do is to know your playing style so that people can give you tips on a type of deck that would fit your style.
God Bless.

Greetings! The advice I offer you is this:
Check back here frequently with questions. We have all started at the bottom of the learning curve, too. Even for those of us who have played the game for years, we still have ruling questions to ask. Mastering Redemption is a steep cliff to climb, but one that is rewarding, well worth it, and gives you the view of everyone else at the bottom. ;) (I was joking about the last part.)
Glad to have you onboard, and good luck with Finals! 8)

I agree I read the beutiful side of evil which led me out of MTG but get New Jerusalem and Falling aways A.S.A.P then get Guardian of your souls and Destruction of Nehushtan...
I do have New Jerusalem, and I saw it was pretty good. Looks like an easy two points to get. I got it in the 10th Ann. Gift Set as a bonus card! ;D

UPDATE: Well, I had two of my final exams today. Not too bad actually for my first two in my high school career :P Anywho, I had a Spanish and Computers exam. Computers I was finished 30 minutes early and the first done. Spanish was pretty easy too, except my teacher (who was born and raised in Honduras) sorta messed up the lettering for answers, and some of the questions didn't make sense. But hey, he's still pretty awesome! Anyway, I've started trying to read the Redemption Rulebook last night. A lot of rules.........lol. But I still can't wait to start!!! ;D

RTS stands for Redemption Table Simulator. It is basically a deck building program that allows you to build a deck and play Redemption online. Hamachi is a program that has chatting features and basically makes starting up games easier.
Basically he is saying when you decide to download RTS and Hamachi he'd be willing to help you get started ;)

butif you want deck advice go to Gabe and RR (or me)
-
Have fun with Redemption, John! I see where you're coming from with the book you read, and I agree completely. See you around the boards!
Sincerely,
Not of this World
-
I'd also love to help you with deck advice... although I agree that "BrianGabe" and "TheKarazyVicePresidentRR" are some of the best deck builders.
-
That isn't good, he is gone....

I admit I am not an expert, but one thing that helped me get used to playing was practice. I also studied the rulebook if I wasn't sure I was doing the "plays" right.

Redemption is just a far superior game to all others. The art work is awesome, the creator and the play testers really care. They have never banned a card. Tournaments are like really not boring family reunions. The scripture is edifing, and the community fights a little, but when you are in need "Bang" they are there for you praying and advising.
I love it!
Welcome! Be creative, think strategically and have FUN!

Wall of protection, the sa lost souls. They really do help a lot. Especially the woman only. Let's see. I play Harvest time but that's a maybe if you have room for it. Jeruselum's Tower. Great for a beginner deck, until you can have cards in your deck to support it. Anything else I forgot? And welcome to the boards my bruda! lolz

Welcome to the boards John.
Godspeed,
Mike

I think you're a bit too late. ;)

I just gave up all my other card games thanks to a book I read about how even Pokemon is demonic.
That book is communist/socialist propaganda. As an anarchist and capitalist, I must protest.
Pokemon is not demonic. Other card games are not demonic. Redemption actually HAS demons, so I'd have to say that's about as demonic as you can get.

where'd john go?
did he get his account deleted to?

Hi, Im also a new player and i have a question about rarities. How can u tell them apart

Apostles
Patriarchs
Kings
Angel Wars
Common/Uncommon/Rare are hard to distinguish. There are a few card lists that you can refer to for rarity. Ultra-Rares have a gold border.
Priests
Each card has a rarity in the bottom left corner, ultra rares still have gold borders.
Starter Decks
Faith of Our Fathers
Rock of Ages
Cards all have the same rarity because these are not randomly assorted.
