Dastardly Plots

So I've heard a lot about how Haman's Plot should be banned/never printed/sent to a corner and told to rethink it's life.  Why is this?  It's an irritating card for sure, but it only discards (I'll probably get flamed about that one).

If ever there was a card that was balanced because of a high cost, it's Haman's Plot.  :P I love it and think it's fine the way it is.

I think the biggest problem is that it is a CBN discard any 3 characters in play or set aside area, basically its a very general CBN battle winner, and then they added a stupid "cost" to it that has very little to do with game play.

I would say that it has plenty to do with game play. You can only use it once, ever so if you're in a tournament you have to thing do I use this now or save it for the final round, not to mention if you're an idiot like me and build a 50 card deck with a plot in it and you rip said plot, congrats you just forfeited every game for the rest of the tournament cause your deck is no longer tournament legal at only 49 cards, and theres no sideboard in redemption so no adding a card.

That's not game play, that's having a card that whether or not you play it depends on your collection, and what deck(s) you have at a tournament, game play would be something that affects the game its in, not every game after the one you are in.

But that cost does have an effect on game  play, i'm not going to rip a plot in the first round of a tournament, and If i don't rip it I can't discard 3 characters.

I'm not saying its not a cost, but when you think about it to the player that has 3 identical decks registered each full of plots to play them doesn't really cost anything major (since that player probably won't need to use them in every game) this is a much bigger problem in T2 where depending on what deck you are running being down one plot is almost meaningless and with usually only 6 rounds, so long as you can afford to keep getting more plots (or have 100+ in your collection) using a Haman's plot has essentially 0 cost to it.

The biggest reason I hate Haman's Plot is that it really accentuates the rich get richer property of Redemption. If you don't have the money to use a bunch of plots in tournaments, you are at a huge disadvantage. I might not mind so much if you could only check in one deck at tournaments, but being able to check three copies of the same deck (and thus being able to use 3 Plots in one tournament) seems like a heck of a way to cheat the system using money.

I actually never saw a plot used when I was Playing T1, which I thought was really weird. I know my uncle had a plot is his deck, but I'm not sure if he used it.

Though, I do agree that it's the people that can throw away money that have all the Plots. I have a few myself, but I'd never use them in a tourny without the Gallows.

The last three major tournaments that I played in (NC Regional 2010, NC Regional 2011, Nationals 2011) I went 20-2 (With a Plot in the deck) and never ripped a plot. It's a great card, but it doesn't actually get played nearly as much as you might think.

I like how MW Regional 2011 doesn't even count as a major tournament in your opinion...;)

I'm going to assume he didn't mention it because he didn't want to face me in T1 2P he didn't play T1 2P at MW Regionals.

I definatly agree with this.  Also plot can just be to powerful, three characters, that can really destroy an offense/defense.
