Hi, I'm Ammian, and I'm new here. Blessings in Christ!
What have been some epic redemption games you've played? Anything funny? Anything full of suspense? What about close calls? Post 'em here!
I want to hear all of your stories.
Here's one from me:
Prince of this World - one of the representations of the devil - got captured with baggage. T'was a tragic mishap, but we have always known the devil is lost.
Sometime later, the lost soul who shuffles other lost souls in play into draw decks came out as a result of Harvest Time. The player responsible - the one who had used baggage on the devil - did not want Prince of this World to go back into his opponent's draw deck, since the opponent had only three of them total, one of which was already in the discard pile. Giving his opponent possible access to another Prince of this World was unacceptable. The player put Satan in the only site he had left: New Jerusalem.
At any rate, a little while later, the Assyrian King Sennacherib, who had been converted to silver brigade to deal with Prince of Tyrus, comes in for a smooth rescue attempt. The target? Prince of this World. Thanks to a few flaming swords, Sennacherib pulls off the rescue ...and the devil gets saved.
Fantastic.
I can see it now: the devil in the land of redemption, telling people, in thick Gospel accent, "I've seen Jee-eezuss." An Assyrian King brought him to the light. Yep. This game can get really fun.
So what's one story you have? Post it here.

I was at the top table at nationals this year against SS and he had about the most amazing draw I've ever seen, and I got the worst draw the deck ever had. He got all of his doms in his hand and he was up like 2-0 and I mayhemed and ended up losing 5-4 which lost me my streak of 6-0 and therefore slowing my momentum and I lost nats. :'(

Final round of type 2 multi at 2009-10 Wild Bill's Type Two Only tournament. Near the bottom table.
If you weren't there you don't get to bask in its epicness. Any game with MJB is always a blast.

Someone ripped a card that wasn't haman's plot at Nats this year during a legit tourney game.

and that's why CDCBR is such a good foundation...
well, although I've told these stories before, I'll tell them again. both are booster draft. both are between me, Red Dragon Thorn, and Franta012 (currently inactive).
I battle challenge (unknowingly, he had his lost souls in sites...) against franta012, with Jepthah, and I discarded Job's Wife and King Zimri. "YOU'RE GONNA PAY FOR THAT!" blocks Athaliah (at this time I realized it was a battle challenge) throws down a Haman's Plot and shreds it before anything could be said.
a year later, Franta had a The False Prophet, and I couldn't get around either defense. so I activated I am Patience and converted The False Prophet after a suicide rescue. Franta rescues against RDT with The False Prophet. RDT plays Cage. I did another suicide rescue. Franta rescues against RDT with The False Prophet again. RDT plays Paul's Girdle. Same thing again, except RDT plays ANOTHER Cage. then I'm pretty sure RDT won...

That was indeed an awesome game. I think that may have been my favorite memory of that tournament and possibly all of my short time playing redemption; it was a blast playing with you all in that.

Booster draft usually holds the best memories, because you're FORCED to play with 50 cards even though you might know that 10 of them have no hope of being played.
Best memory I have was when helping a friend's seven year old daughter draft her deck, and she keeps wanting to draft certain cards because they're "pretty" or she likes the drawings on them. So I figure there's no way she's going to win this 3 player game against much more experienced opponents.
But by a turn of fate the game ends up 4-4-4, and it's her turn. She makes a rescue attempt against her dad (Brederic), who blocks and then plays "Divisions in the Church" against her NT character (Stephen I think). Of course we don't have any interrupts, so I figure we've lost that battle. Then she says "Will this work?", and lays down one of the cards that she had picked when I wanted her to pick something much better. She plays "Of One Mind", a rainbow enhancement whose sole ability is "Interrupt, Prevent, and Negate Divisions in the Church"! I nearly fell out of my chair, as did the other players. She had picked it because she liked the colors :) In over 2 years of playing now, we still have yet to see another case of "Of One Mind" actually using it's special ability. It was classic.

Natz in Minnesota. Booster Draft on the last day, sixish hours of sleep between us at that table. Sinning Hand is played. Laughter ensues for fifteen minutes straight.

First time playing T2 down south. The first game ended in a draw. The second game was against the person who always wins T2. We both started good and then one of his multiple aocp on me and wiped out all of my defense. For the next few turns, he just walked in without any fight. Finally, when the score was 6-1, I drew my Nebby. From that point on, he could not get his final lost soul. I actually ended up winning 7-6. The best part is, his one blue tassel was near the bottom of his deck.
However, the next tournament I faced him, he slaughtered me 7-0.

That was a friend of mine, we're from the church where Nats was held (Lynnfield,MA) Hes been playing for years and we have no idea why he did it. hahah we hanged up half of the Locust from the Pit in the room that we play in to remind us of it.

This isn't exactly epic, but at today's tournament in a fun match featuring Wild Bill and Professor Alstad, Benaiah Snatches a Spear was used to "snatch" Egyptian Spear--the spear from the Bible story where Benaiah defeats the Huge Egyptian.

They did this at MN T2 only local this year but every time this is done I laugh.

But natz hasn't been in Minnesota since sinning hand was published.....

Yes it was, Sinning Hand came out in Priests and Priests came out at that Natz.

AH! Strike that, it was Withered Hand. That actually makes much more sense, because the other catalyst for the laughter was a "GRAB MY STRONG HAND" comment.
