I know I'm going to get roasted for this, but I'm a super-newbie so I guess I deserve it...
Why do the "newer" Redemption cards not match the size for the I & J starter decks and the "older" cards?
My family bought a bunch of Redemption cards to help get through quarantine (and we love the game). We also got one of the Cactus 500 card grab bags and a handful of booster packs, including a couple of Lineage of Christ packs. The new cards are bigger than the others, so it makes it awkward to shuffle the decks with a few of the larger cards poking out.
We're so curious as to why the decision was made to make these new cards physically bigger. Anyone know? Thanks!

Over the years, Cactus Game Design has used different printing companies, which has resulted in card sizes having a bit of variance. Having been involved in some of the discussions regarding print runs, I can say that Rob has always tried his best to find the highest quality printing source for the capital he is able to invest in keeping Redemption going.
I believe the Priests expansion was the first to use a different printer and it is very easy to distinguish one of those cards both by touch and look. The TexP set was a foil set and often the cards have a bend to them so those cards are also easily distinguished from non-foil cards. The first printing of the I/J starter decks was actually mis-sized due to an error by the printing company, but rather than waste all those cards, Rob went ahead and used them (after informing the community that they would be undersized).
As a result, the decision was made many years ago to require that all decks being sleeved for tournament play. Obviously that's not a requirement for pick-up games at home, but it is an easy way to avoid the issue of mis-matching card sizes. Hope that helps. :)

Hey, welcome to the boards! You don't have to worry about being "roasted" here- this community is quite nice! And that's a really good question. Simple answer is, Cactus Game Design switched printers! Due to the different card sizes, the rule was implemented that all decks must be sleeved in tournament play. Of course, playing casually you can do whatever you want, but I personally always use sleeves in order to protect the cards.
